Could anyone tell me where I can find a profile of the route between Arles & Somport? ie heights of the various stages. We found this information very useful last year on the Le Puy route but I can't find anything on this one.

You don't have to reserve a seat. Buy your ticket at Lyon Part Dieu station. Refunds depend on the fare structure-the cheaper tickets can't be refunded after departure. However, there are a number of trains during the day so you shouldn't worry about missing one. You will have to change trains...

We have recently (April-May 2011) walked from Le Puy to St Jean-Pied -de-Port. As other respondents have said the Tourist Offices are really helpful & generally have someone that speaks English. However, the more you understand French the richer your experience will be-particularly reading...
