    Merino wool shirt

In the US, Woolx has some nice shirts and offers 20% off fairly often. I wore a black, short sleeve Woolx T every other day on the Camino in Sept. The hem came undone after I returned home and they replaced it free.. Also have about 6 of the long sleeve Costco shirts, some almost 10 years old-...

Any suggestions for a technical shirt with the performance of Merino but without the drawbacks?

I have 3 Capilene cool daily T shirts and one long sleeve hoody. Took 2 of the T’s on the Camino and 1 Woolx merino T. If I could only own one, it would be tough to decide. I still wear both styles all the time. The Capilene hold odor a bit more but hand washing removes it. They’re almost...

A wide toe box trail runner

Walked Fall 2021 in Altra Timp 2 with zero blisters and no foot pain. Sadly the newer Timps aren’t the same. Topo Terraventure was an ok alternative though like Altra Lone Peak, a bit too much volume for my foot. A running shoe store recommend Topo Mountain Racer, now on my 2nd pair!

Women’s 100% merino long sleeve back at Costco

$18.99! I have 5 of these from about 10 years ago when they were $3 or $4 cheaper. - I’ve worn, machine washed & dried low heat many, many times and only one developed a small hole. They do shrink a bit if you dry for too long. This one seems fairly generously sized.

Men's Pants - There Can Be Only One

I struggle too with finding Tall sizes. I took a pair of regular length Columbia PFG zip offs (almost long enough as pants, too long as shorts- not the most comfortable fit for me) and a pair of regular length REI Savanna Trail pants (super lightweight, can cinch the ankles & wear like capris-...

    Laundry advice

Dr. Bronner’s bar soap works great for clothes, hair, body. 1 bar lasted a month. Walmart & Amazon carry it, less than $5/bar. I tried it at home without using conditioner but found I really needed some on the Camino

    Quick drying hiking tshirt help

Check out merino shirts by woolx. Pricey, but they often offer 20% off and have great customer service. I also love Patagonia ‘Capilene cool’ fabric. ‘Clinical strength’ underarm anti-perspirant helps a lot. 🙂

    Christmas gift help

My partner is 6’6” & big, he did fine with the Stratus 36 in whatever largest size they make it. Or maybe his feet hurt so much that he didn’t notice any problems with the pack 😆

Random thing that made you smile on Camino?

I love this question and the many different answers! For me, sitting on a stone wall by the sea in Vila Praia de Âncora watching herds of sheep and goats walk by on the path. Eating lunch outdoors in Vila Cha with locals who popped open their umbrellas and continued their meal in the rain.

    Shorter Stages on the Portuguese

We loved Vila Praia de Ãncora- away from the beachfront there is Quinta da Quinhas, a farm, albergue, and co-working space that was our favorite on the Camino. Also Mt. Calvario has amazing views (but a lot of steps.) we visited in September & October so did not see a lot of tourists.

Weirdest/Strangest item someone has taken on the Camino

My partner brought a travel water pik but sadly it blew up on first use as neither one of us thought about the different voltage…. after all dental hygiene is very important 😬

Trail Runner Brands That Work for wide feet

Too many replies to read them all but just in case no one mentioned it: there are different lacing techniques that will snug up the shoe for a narrow heel. Check on YouTube or ask the salesperson at a reputable running shoe store or REI.
