Flying with poles in carryon.
We checked a mailing tube with our poles. That way, we flew stress-free, not worrying about any Last-minute pole problems at the airport. You can throw your Swiss Army knife in the tube as well! I walked the Camino Frances in the summer, and I agree with you on both counts. The toilet paper situation gets worse as you move along. The lack of bell use by the cyclists was very frustrating. What did you forget that you would bring with you the second time?
I would have brought a few antihistamine tablets. They take up no room. I had an allergic reaction to a vinegar gone bad while I was on the Camino this summer. Also a few extra safety pins for hanging clothes on my pack. No way would I bother with food from home. Too much weight. I embraced the...- mmmckay

First Day
If I were you, I’d stay in Orisson the first night. We just finished our Camino onAugust 7 and through the entire walk, we felt a wonderful connection with the people we met in Orisson. It’s worth it, and will make your second day to Roncesvalles so much more enjoyable. Good luck!- mmmckay
