I walked last year from Cahors to Pamplona and the first week in September was extraordinarily hot. Lessons learned: start early in the day, plan for shorter walking days, be mindful of the socks you wear ( I walked 18 miles in 91+ degree heat wearing Darn Tough socks and developed blisters...
As a single female pilgrim, I walked Le Puy to Pamplona and had the most wonderful Camino walking through France. This year I will finish the CF starting in Pamplona. If you do Le Puy to SJPP, I highly suggest making a reservation at La Chappele des Ursulines in Aire sur L’Adour. It was a...
My husband and I both use a hyperlite. I switched from the Gregory to the hyperlite to save oz. and it worked beautifully last year as I walked from Cahors, France to Pamplona.
183 days until I head back to Pamplona for my final stretch into Santiago. I started in 2022 in Le Puy to Cahors, walked 3+ weeks in 2023 from Cahors to Pamplona , and this year will complete this journey. I can’t wait! The Camino experience is so fantastic in so many ways.
I would stay the night in SJPP, it’s a lovely town! Make sure to book a bed in Orisson, it was wonderful to spend the night and wake up early to see the sunrise! When I continued onto Roncevalles the next day, the winds were monstrous and I was glad to have spent the night in Orisson. I’m from...
You will love Orisson! Smart choice! Be sure to go outside just before sunrise or even earlier. The stars are amazing and the sunrise is so beautiful! Bon Camino!
Alex, kudos to you on the Caminos you have walked and for describing, so well, what a Camino means to you. 2024 will be my 3rd year completing the Le Puy to Santiago route. In 2022, I walked from Le Puy to Cahors with my husband who went on Santiago. In 2023, I walked from Cahors to Pamplona. In...
I started the Chemin de Compostela in Cahors, France on September 3 in 94° heat and wore my tried and true Altra Lone Peaks with Darn Tough socks. My feet got so hot and I developed a blister on the bottom of my right foot. Many euros later, buying Compeed and other bandages as well as going to...
I walked from Le Puy to Cahors in September 2022 and only needed a liner. Am walking this year from Cahors to Pamplona and am only taking a liner. Bon Camino!
My husband wore Altra Lone Peaks for 900+ miles from Le Puy to Santiago with no problems. I wore them for 300 miles with no problems. The longevity is great!
We walked from Le Puy last September and met many women who were walking it alone ( that said, you always make friends so you are never really alone). I am walking from Cahors to Pamplona alone this September and I don’t have any worries.
