Brilliant reply Vacajoe. The Camino Frances requires several weeks for the fittest Pilgrims. Most people in the world have a job with limited holidays thrown in, so either have to wait till they retire, and are fit enough to contemplate El Camino.

The good thing about poles , they reduce the weight thru the hip joints. Use short gloves to reduce the push into your hands. Even those fingerless gloves. I’m a Physio ! X
There’s no possibility of starting El Camino ftom a foreign country , needing to fly , if one is technically poor

Sounds encouraging. As for the temperatures in Spain in July - in the end if we walked mid summer because it suited us , you just have to rise and shine at 5 and depart walking at 6 am
With the changing situation , no insurance etc , probably better to wait , but Roncevalles is a delightful...
