Packing list feedback for Primitivo next week

If you’re an experienced hiker, you probably have your kit tailored to your needs, know it’s comfortable to carry, and are completely fine! Since you have various Patagonia and Mountain Hardware products listed have you tried the MH air mesh fleece? I find it very versatile and great for...

    Packing List: Welcome All Comments!

You may want to think about some sort of moisturizer you can use on your face. I find that sun/rain/wind/snow(!!) is hard on the skin. You can take a small amount of one you already use if you do so, or even a small tube of aquaphor which can be used on your face (and elsewhere) as needed.

    Re-considering zip-off convertible pants

I’m not a fan either. My long hiking pants have elastic in the ankles that can be pulled tighter to shorten.

    want solitude

I’m currently on the San Salvador and am completely alone on the path and in the albergues! It’s stunning and I’ve been very lucky with the weather. If possible, try not to pick a time when it’s supposed to be very wet. Footing will be tough

    Merino wool shirt

I also like merino a lot and buy on sale, pretty much wherever I can find good prices. Usual brands smartwool, woolly, icebreaker, and woolx. I tend to like the lighter weight (150) and layer, if necessary. I take a tank for sleeping/base layer, 3/4 sleeve, long sleeve. Mix as necessary. All of...

How to get from Lisbon airport to Porto?

I have flown to Lisbon, from the US, and traveled to Porto or on to other EU countries frequently. If you want the easiest option on arrival, fly to Porto in under an hour. I try to leave ~2 hours between flights and it’s been enough. Of course, there can always be more extreme delays but I...

    Under-Publicized Backpack Options?

I hope it works for you! I should say that I try to be careful with my base weight and it’s usually in the 9-11 pound range. Obviously not super light but low end of normal for the Camino? I also don’t carry water on my back since it’s so heavy. My experience with any pack probably doesn’t...

    Under-Publicized Backpack Options?

They’re sort of a hybrid between ultralight and traditional packs. I have upper back and neck issues so need supportive hip belts and can’t use ultralight packs. It’s not quite as comfortable as my osprey talon, but I really like it for when I want my pack tight to my back on more difficult...

    Under-Publicized Backpack Options?

The Montane Trailblazer series is nice with lots of practical storage. The 30L is great for caminos and weighs about 820 grams. Since this line has been updated recently, older ones are still around at great prices. They have adjustable back lengths and a pretty wide range of volumes. They can...

    Topo Wearers!

I walk caminos and hike in Topos and love them. I’ve had several different models of low and zero drop trail runners and also use boots occasionally. I haven’t had any problems with grip in varying terrains and mine have also tried quickly. Going up a half size works best for me. I mostly use...

    Morton’s Neuroma shoe choice

It was several years ago now but I think the injections lasted ~2 months. I got it done before 2 different walking/hiking trips. I don’t remember if the pebble/tingly sensation went away entirely but it didn’t hurt or burn which was super helpful! It’s been at least 5-6 years now for mine and it...

    Morton’s Neuroma shoe choice

Hi, I have found that zero or minimal drop shoes work best for my Morton’s neuroma. My favorites are Topo Athletic and I use Dr. Scholl’s running insoles in them. For me, the pursuit has been the most comfortable model. Since I find it’s important to avoid stress on my forefoot, I also use...

Please Recommend Lightweight Backpack On Camino Frances

Hi all, I’ve been reading for several years but shy about posting. I’m an older woman, about 63 inches, and 125-130 pounds. I agree with all the advice posted about trying backpacks to see what works for you. I live in the USA so have used REI, but also a variety of online retailers with good...
