I'm 65 and I have plan for my first Camino

There is a nasty stretch of downhill before Molinaseca. Crumbly. slick stone you have to constantly watch where you step for about 4 or 5k. If it is late in the day there is a nice little town to stay at before all that. Also, you will enjoy the side trip to Samos Monastery!

    Backpack in the Hold?

I used a canvas laundry bay to put my pack in. It was awkward to carry it across the airport and they opened it and went through it after it was checked, but the pack was protected just fine.

    Introvert or Extrovert?

I'm an introvert. I can interact with one or possibly two people for a long time but the more people there are the more I want to get away, unless they are funny in which case I love them.

    The most emotional place?

My glasses popped apart and I took one of the lenses and placed it at the Cruz de Ferro and kept the other. I also placed a stone from a young Italian girl whose father had died recently. I wrote a note to The Lord and wrapped it to the stone. I bent my head down to the pole and wept softly...

    Finisterre Saved Our Camino

We walked from Leon on April 19th. and got to Santiago on May 4th. It was a little more crowded near the end but not bad. We were only almost shut out of a place for 1 night and that was because people make reservations and then not show up. If I go again it would be the same time of year or...

I brought a small bottle of Dr. Broner's peppermint soap which is my favorite and which I promptly forgot in one of the showers in Santa Catalina!

Yes, Pulpo also you might try that Arujo. A potent drink made from the fermented remains of the wine press. It's killer and the yellow stuff is smooth. RicksRicks

    rain in spain

When we went in April and early May it was misty and rainy at least part of every every day for a week, mostly in Gallicia. I had a light raincoat with hood, a waterproof pack cover, and a wide brimmed hat and good hiking shoes. The thing is where I come from (Cape Cod) when it clears up...
