In my case, the goal was to get to mondoñedo and I took a bus from train station (train didn’t come and they gave us a bus/shuttle) to San Cosme (berreiros) and I walked straight up on N-634 from there. I could have rejoined the official Camino along the way but I was quite happy with the...
Yes I’m trying to jump ahead to Mondonedo to catch up with some friends who are ahead of me. From Ribadello (where I am at now) there appears to be a bus that runs twice a day, and I could taken that to San Cosme.
Thanks for the tips. I’ll see if I can look up San Martino. I assume you walked...
Has anyone taken this route recently? It’s shown on the Galicia Camino maps (see image) but I haven’t found much info in how well it is marked, if the trail is clear and walkable, etc.
Hi Laurie,
My budget has some room to indulge. Only problem is if I keep finding places like this (Getaria) I might not make it to Santiago or even back to Seattle :)
Sleeping options in Zarautz were very limited. And the pilgrims hostel there is closed for the season. I (and a couple of Frenchmen) got there around noon and the hostels that are open wouldn’t check us in til 3p. So I decided to continue on. If you have the energy to Walk another 2.5 miles to...
FWIW, here is how I thought about this
Determine the total distance On the route
Determine how many days you have for walking (after taking out travel days to fly in to your start and out of Santiago
Decide how many off days you want per week
Decide if you want extended stays in any towns or...
I’ve been carrying around an REI sac (bag, but a guy at a bookstore in Paris just called it a sac and I’m going with it :) and putting in it the few things of value I don’t want to lose. When I have the pack with me I jus shove this sac at the top of my pack. Turned out to be quite easy.
Just...
Thank you for the detailed response. I’ll bring a small bag or belt of some kind so I can keep important things with me at all times.
Are beds that dirty or did you mean the pack has all kinds of dirt? I’m guessing the latter.
Regarding extending till December I’m thinking more about how...
Hello Everyone.
I’m planning to start off on Camino Norte from Irún on Sep 10th and have a few last minute questions
What did you do with the backpacks when you are heading out for dinner etc.? Are there lockers available? Any advice on common sense practices to secure my belongings would be...
Thanks that is good to know. I’m starting from Irún around Sep 10th. There is so much info out there and yet it feels very unclear what I can expect starting this late. I’m thinking if that as a positive thing.
I'm planning to start early Sep and give myself up to 3 months so I can enjoy the scenery. This will take me through to November by the time I get to Gijón and beyond. I have the same questions about accommodation as we get into November and not-so-warm weather clothing suggestions. Any tips...
