Hi, I walked the Via de la Plata last year in sept/oct. Started in Sevilla, was planning to start in Cadiz but didn't hear very positive comments about that first part. Met someone on the way who did start in Cadiz and she wasn't too positive about it either.
I started 31st of August. It was...
Thanks a lot, I will look into it. Not sure yet if I will make it in November (bit worried about the weather, not a big fan of rain for example), so I don't want you to go through any trouble scanning just yet! I found their website (https://www.caminodesantiagohuelva.com/) and it looks like I...
Hi all, I'm looking for some more information on the Camino del Sur from Huelva to Zafra (7 day walk). Can't find much information about it... I'm looking into the possibility to do this camino in the beginning of November, since it is in the far south of Spain and the weather might still be...
Hi all, I've been using this forum for a while but haven't even introduced myself, sorry about that! :)
My name is Susan, I'm Dutch, and just booked my flight to Sevilla to start the Via de la Plata on the 30th or 31st of August. I took 3 months off between contracts so I have all the time in...
Thanks, I just booked my flight (so excited!) and will leave the 30th or 31th of August from Sevilla. I guess I will see if there are any other pilgrims. If I somehow don't feel comfortable I can always take the bus...
A bit off topic but as you walked in the same period @Old Gringo , I was...
Thanks all. I haven't trained specifically for the camino, with backpack for example, but I am pretty fit and have done walks of 30 and 40 km. Also done quite some walks in the Amazon and am used to some heat. But I am planning to take it slow wherever it is possible.
Didn't know about those...
Hi all, I'm planning to leave Sevilla around the 1st of September and have read several reports of people taking the bus for the first part because of robberies. I was planning to walk in 2 parts, staying at Santiponce the first night (to get used to the heat, and because I haven't been...
Hi, I will be walking the VdlP in September/October and can't really decide whether I should buy a lightweight sleeping bag. As I'm starting in hot weather, I would think a (fleece) liner would be enough? Aren't there blankets in every albergue?
Thanks in advance,
Susan
Thanks, I just downloaded that accommodation guide as well. I'm not doing a lot of pre-planning, but even on the best marked routes I always manage to get lost and walk in the wrong direction so I do need a guide as a back-up :)
Hope it will not be too exploded yet. I will take my time, short...
Thanks for the info. I'm planning the Via de la Plata in September and want to start in Cadiz. The part Cadiz - Sevilla I want to do partly walking, partly by bus, as a kind of pre-camino-holiday :) Which days of your camino would you recommend for walking?
Thanks, very useful info! Downloaded both the Erosky (there an Android version as well) as Via de la Plata app to check it out. I see the Gerard Kelly book will have an update soon so that will be perfect!
