    Lightweight backpack for petite female

Good morning from BC! I just bought a Gregory Jade 38 EX/Small, because I was lucky enough to run into a wonderful MEC salesperson who spent time fitting me. I'm now 4'11", and have an extremely short back waist length due to a back issue. I'm looking forward to going to Portugal to do the...

    Accommodation in Sarria

What a great opportunity to give a shout-out to Jose at Escalinata! Finding myself suddenly doing elder care for a dear friend who had experienced a medical event before her arrival, Jose realized my situation and was most kind. I will always remember his knowing and compassionate smile.

Where to stay in O Cebreiro

Hi Dianne, A few years ago, I stayed at the Albergue O'Cebreiro. There's also Casa Carolo, Casa Valina and Casa Frade, each of which might have single rooms. Reservations are recommended in the summer. Pedrafita O Cebreiro (4.5 km off route) also has accomodation.

Hello Katey, What a fantastic project! I joined it after my caminos. As a very slow walker, it took me three trips to complete the Camino. I was delighted to find this digital community as a way to reflect on the three trips, contribute to the knowledge pool, and plan for the next one. I...

Hello Sophia, I travelled to the Camino in 2016 with a backpack and a small piece of luggage which had clothes appropriate for a conference later in Denmark. Hello, In case my previous response didn't take-> In 2016, I took the overnight train from Paris to Bayonne in a 4-bed couchette, and it worked fine. It's like a hostel on wheels. In Bayonne, I took the bus to SJPP. I would do it again. all the best, Tacey, who's now 73

Help! Pack too heavy! — CF Sept & Oct — Senior Woman

Dear Thyme, I have walked three sections of the Camino over a few years during the summer-early fall with the same backpack that I bought in 2007. I just decided to get a new one, a Gregory 63 which weighs 1.61 kg, as I have rods in my back and want to protect it. I am also quite short, and...

Cheapest way to get into St Jean Pied De Port?

Hi Dena, I took the train from Paris to Bayonne and then bus/train to SJPP. It might be a good idea to get a hostel reservation to make sure that there's a place to stay at the outset. After that, the Brierly book is the best guide.
