Yes, I just looked on Booking.com but it's all so expensive and way above my budget. I've emailed 2 more reasonable options from Dave's list and waiting for replies 🤞
Hi Dave. Casa Belen in Cuerres have just cancelled my reservation saying that due to the number of Covid cases they will not open in August, they are old and feel vulnerable. Maybe you should update your document. I now have the total headache of trying to find something else!
Thank you so much for this information, just what I was looking for to help me plan. I'll be walking from Santander (where I finished in 2019) starting on the 26th July. I didn't imagine that I'd have to book ahead for accommodation, not what I usually like to do, but at least we can walk again...
I have just finished walking from Irún to Santander. I started on August 2 and had the same bed race problem. Many times I had to sit in queues for 3 or 4 hours outside albergues. I must admit I always ended up with a bed but many didn't. I met 2 German girls who ended up spending 3 or 4 nights...
I have just returned, yesterday, from walking from Irún to Santander and wanted to share my experience of the "hairy scary" path up Monte Candina on the Paso de Presa. I had previously read this thread about the dangerous route marked with black circles and arrows and was actually determined NOT...
Hi Laurie, yeah that is the one I went to. Maybe they open more of it up later on, but there was definitely only 3 tables in the bar. Never mind, I got to eat in the end. It's still the first town I've ever come across in Spain with bars that don't sell food.
I asked everywhere and was told only one which is just passed Cafe Jaime serves food, but seemed to be tiny when I went in and I had sit outside on the curb because it was so packed. In the end I gave up and left.
I'm in Grandas de Salime now and have had a nightmare trying to find something to eat on a Saturday evening. Half day closing for the shops. My hotel, La Barra only offers food if you have pre booked it, but I wasn't told this. All the other bars said that there is only one bar that has food but...
Uff! 4 degrees is very cold. I've just started my journey and I've left my jacket at home. I have the day sightseeing in Oviedo tomorrow so I'll look out for a sports shop to see if I can find a cheap lightweight fleece there. My pack is feeling quite light at the moment but the jacket just...
Have decided on two really lightweight long sleeve tops that can be layered up and take up no space at all in my pack. I'm finding it hard to be ruthless when it comes to packing but I know I thank my self for it later on.
Hi, I'm starting from Oviedo on the 10th July. I leave tomorrow night and am starting to pack. I have a lovely fleece zip up jacket but it's seems quite bulky in my 30L backpack. Will I need a fleece in July? I also have a lightweight rain jacket and am considering just wearing that and a long...
Hi, I'll arrive in Oviedo on the 9th but about 10:30 am, I'm travelling from Sevilla by bus. I'm going to spend the day in the town and stay overnight in a small albergue in the centre. I'll actually start walking on the 10th. If we coincide it would be nice to have a coffee and a chat.
Nice story. Women needn't be afraid to walk alone, it's very safe. You're never really alone on the Camino, there are always people there if you want to have company for a while. I'm off in two days to start my 2nd Camino, alone. So excited!!
