After cycling Seville to Zamora in May/June 2023 I am searching for my next adventure. So thank you for all the wonderful information shared in this thread - I'm hoping to cycle EV3 to/from St Jean Pied de Port - Paris - can anyone give a view the pros/cons of either directions?
In addition, because we stopped at Zamora we had to send our bikes back from there to France by Correos - we were planning to do this in Santiago = as advised. But contact with Bicicletas La Madrilena for dismantling (25 euros) and packing in Correos bike boxes worked well ( bikes have arrived...
Just back after cycling from Sevilla to Zamora. Success using media distancia trains! We took 2 whole bikes from Irun to Madrid - 8 hours but no problems - had to change at San Sebastián due to track works but otherwise very straight forward. Slight problem arriving in Madrid - arrived at...
Just survived cycling the section from Galisteo to Guijeulo! Mega hairpin climbs and freezing summits so Salamanca is a real treat. Question: advice from anyone who has posted a bike home via Correos. As previously stated - bike shop in Zamora has agreed to dismantle and pack 2 bikes for us 10...
Thanks for your advice - now heading from Galisteo to Salamanca & Zamora and have contacted a bike shop who has confirmed they will do this for us - will report on our experience. In the meantime my gear cable broke and we called into Le Boutique Bike in Caceres - absolutely brilliant place =...
Your advice please? Can you send a bicycle via Correos from any post office in Spain and have someone dismantle and pack it for you or is this facility only available in Santiago- and do you have to book this service in advance?
Advice please ? I’m starting from Sevilla 19/5 on my bicycle and would like to know if I have to book bike packing & posting at Correos in Santiago in advance or just rock up? I’m hoping to leave my bike to follow me home and fly back - can’t cope with it on a self transfer in Marseille!
Reading your advice re only 3 bikes on each MD train is a bit unnerving - we 2 cycling peregrinas have 2 long trips booked via the RENFE website - each specifying and paying for the bikes - will we be OK ?
After a lot of thought and planning we are hoping to start with our own bikes in Sevilla mid May - however I am looking for further advice. How to deal with fierce dogs whilst on a bike? Suggestions? What to do if a thunderstorm arrives whilst out in the middle of nowhere on a bike - stay on and...
Specifically aiming for media distancia
Irun-Hendaye 10.23-18.55 to Madrid stay over then
Madrid-Jaen 8.36-12.54 followed by Jaen-Sevilla 14.32-17.30
Have to say I’m still negotiating Renfe site and it’s too early to book ( also it’s not easy to find the section for MD) so I’m concentrating...
Great to find this thread! I’m hoping to cycle VdlP end April>May this year. I’m trying to learn from advice posted and break the stages in the Hayes book into shorter and more days to appreciate the journey- however the first day elevation seems daunting even following the road route - would it...
Probably could - but I’m anxious that my bike could arrive damaged when I want to start cycling and taking time to fix - not so critical on my return? Would be interested in the experience of cyclists who have used the service?
Thank you so much - it works! It’s a real puzzle try to sort routes even with the connection map in front of you - with the arrival leg sorted now thank goodness… I’ve looked at getting back from Santiago and it’s problematical - is it sensible to consider packing my bike into a box and sending...
Hi
Just checked my SNCF app and I can book a train ticket from Paris to Hendaye with change at Bordeaux - fully assembled bike paid space possible to Bordeaux- free onwards but I agree - what happens next …? Have found media distancia train to Madrid (assembled bikes accepted) but haven’t...
