Why not walk from Porto cathedral? Time constraints, or scared off by the bad reputation of the urban path (which isn't too hazardous by any means) Anyhow, the local metro will take you so far north and is short connection to the camino (Vilar...

Good point. I was nearly caught out on a Sunday in Alvorge, which is a much smaller town than Tui. The albergue where I had booked a private room was attached to the only restaurant in town, which was very busy when I arrived at lunch time. I...
