Merino fabric is fantastic
I live in Tasmania and find it keeps one really warm on bold days but also easy to wear in summer. Also odour resistant unlike polyester stuff.

14kms with no pack is very different to say. 25kms, with a pack! And it can be very hot with no shade for miles! But it's all part of what makes the Camino! An awesome experience - and you'll just take the day off if you're tired or sore!
I'm planning to go in 2018 too. Was contemplating doing Le Puy - SJPDP in April/May and then return Sept/Oct to do either the Frances or CDN
Is April still too cold? Just want to avoid crowds, but on the other hand don't want to be a single woman totally alone out there!
