Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I'm tech a tech dummy. My friend did the screen saver setup. Ask a youngster to help, they know all the tricks 😏 Hidden air tag installed Just in case

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I was just gonna ask, does she have contact info in pack? That would help. I also put screen saver contact number on cell phone. It has saved me a phone before 😉

León to San Martin del Camino alternative route

Did south route last time, I liked it 😀 Doing north route tomorrow as well because my friend wants to cut distance on his sore knee. Maybe we can compare notes tomorrow night.

Lost & Found Backpack stolen from albergue in León

I'm in Leon. I'll definitely keep eyes open for gear and sentimental yellow cat. Those things mean more than gear. Maybe luck will jump in.. Just 2 days ago, I thought my 30+ year walking stick was lost. I went everywhere looking. I was frantic. An hour later the Hostal owner called that it...

LIVE from the Camino Current big wave at beginning of Francés

Gang, the numbers are just fascinating,,, except when I was walking in hard wind, rain and sleet those extra 4k into the Moratino two nights ago. 😞 Guess I should've tried some of that "lords and ladies" taxi stuff 😉 Jumped ahead to an undisclosed location to try to stealth my way down the way...

LIVE from the Camino Current big wave at beginning of Francés

It's tight! I'm now past Terridillos de Los Temparillos. Got turned away at both Albergues there that were "completo" at 2pm, that told me yesterday they took no reservations. Then the girl behind me checked in tour group of twelve. Every town has been full in the small places (at any price...

    Temperature in albergues

I started April 16th on Francis. Last time on Francis in 2018, same dates. Only one night this trip, I didn't need my very lightweight (50f) quilt. All but one night, "somebody" opened the windows. Glad I have my quilt and beanie hat. 6 of the 7 nights have been "completo" which makes...

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

Obviously "they" means something different in Norway. "They" means "not me, somebody else, I don't know". Katar1na asked if I got an explanation for the discrepancy and the answer was clearly no explanation available.

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

Not really. Something about when "they" decide to make final sign change for season. My friend was worried because we had heard the scam about the big fines if the route was closed.

    Rain Pants?

Watching the people fighting the big jackets and ponchos is part of the "recreation" 😉

    Rain Pants?

I'm cold natured. If it's raining and/or windy, I get cold. The FroggTogg lightweight pants are cheap and wind resistant as well. On Camino, Appalachian Trail and others over the last 6 years, they have been in my pack. I just wore them the past 3 days on the Francias. In case you saw the...

Three rescues on the Route Napoleon yesterday

I left SJPP on 15th, although Pilgrims Office assured us pass was open, signs said Closed. Went back and rechecked with office and they assured us it was open. Stopped at Orisson that night (Lucky bed) Did the top on the16th. Very cold rain and strong winds. I could see unprepared people...

What’s the difference between my two chargers?

The basic early chargers were rated 5 watt, 10w or even more. They all used standard 5 volt charging voltage and had various component weights. The Quick chargers are different. They communicate with compatible devices and vary the charging voltage to charge faster if compatible. If your...

    Ultra lightweight backpack--worth it?

Also, my grandkids carried Gossamer Sumo 36 packs. I was very impressed with the quality of those 19 oz. kits that could easily meet carry on dimensions.

    Ultra lightweight backpack--worth it?

#1 Fit/comfort, #2 weight. 66yo, 185 lbs. I'm a ounce chaser that prioritizes. My Camino base weight is 14 lbs. My AppalachianTrail base weight is 19 lbs. I have the Osprey Exos 48 that is the lightest, framed pack I could find back then. (Not a carry-on) It's not the "lightest" pack...

What exercises to do to strengthen lower back?

66 yo with 50 years of back issues. Walking with a pack always HELPS my back. Whether Camino, AT or other, I'm always better after the hiking. I certainly wouldn't try anything new just before starting a trip. I leave in 2 weeks 😀

    The Idea of Camino

It seems that those who "plan for greatness" may be disappointed. Whereas those that plan for "the experience", gather enjoyment. Just saying.

Inviting reflections on the wider costs of walking a Camino

If you want to side-string I'll discuss.

Inviting reflections on the wider costs of walking a Camino

Interesting numbers, took a while to find them. Carbon footprint by mode of transport. Train 177grams per passenger mile Air 191 grams per passenger mile Bus 299 grams per passenger mile Car 371 grams per passenger mile Ship 471 KG per passenger day, couldn't find per passenger mile...

Inviting reflections on the wider costs of walking a Camino

Super True! My first Camino changed much of how I look at "things". My first trip I started with 17# on my back and finished with 13#. I'm starting this year with 12#. On the Camino and the Appalachian Trail, I see all the things people drop along the way. Some expensive stuff! I look at them...
