Does he reopening of the route always happen on 1st April or is this weather dependent?
Would love to walk it but would never break the rules or ignore official advice. Next year's Camino must be early April or September due to work.
Hi Isabeila
I'll be walking from Seville on the 30th March, a couple days ahead of you. I always feel a bit anxious before a walk beings too ! I only have 10 days of walking this time so I'll be stopping somewhere between Merida and Caceres but our paths may cross ! Have a fantastic walk &...
Will be leaving Sevilla March 30th, walking as far as Caceres.
By the way hi Colette - we met briefly last March/April over a couple of days on the Norte. Lets hope the weather is better this time!
Hello,
sorry to tag this on here - I am flying into Zaragoza on the 9th and will be walking from Somport to Puente de Reina that week. A quick question
- Will a silk / cotton sleeping bag liner be sufficient rather than sleeping bag ?
thanks
Duncan
I remember San Bol well. Easter weekend in 2014 and Hornillos was full. It was baking hot and I had to walk on to San Bol. They were full too but made room for me on the floor. The paella was fresh the company brilliant. Lovely garden to sit in too.

I often take a small rechargeable battery pack with USB adapter. For those times when the socket isn't close by and you don't want to sit by it. Little bit of extra weight is the trade off.

I walked this route in 2015, at from Porto to Vila do Conde then inland to Barcelos.
If you have to skip a section then Tui to Redondela could be one, that saves 30km and the first part of that was pretty horrid as far as I was concerned (esp. Tui to Porrino).
Just my 2 cents.

Edit: If...
I walked Porto to Santiago a couple of years ago. Stayed in Catro Canos in Tivo, probably my favourite experience of any Camino. A lot depends on the mix of people there but family who run it were just so friendly. They are on Facebook and fill up quickly, I think they take bookings.

Yes.
I did this in 2015 at passport control in Porto Airport !!!
I am (at least for now!) an EU citizen but they were checking and stamping passports of the non-EU citizens so I queued up in the non-EU line and presented my passport and my Credencial.
Whats this he asked? He was happy to stamp...
I did this leg a couple of years ago. Evening flight to Madrid then night train with a bed to Ponferrada leaving around 10.30pm getting me in at about 6.00am. Started walking straight from the station. You can book the train online, from memory is wasn't excessive.

Hi Bill & Joel
I am half way through Norte, will return in early to do the next stage (Llanes to La Caridad). My view is that the Norte is doable but the first week or so from Irun to Bilbao I found exceedingly hard work. I would agree it was the toughest walking I have done - take the toughest...
Sorry to hear about this yorkshirepilgrim. As the others have said we are thinking of you. Maybe rest a day or more and try walking some shorter days. If you think the situation warrants medical attention then do not delay.
Hope all gets better

Maybe consider (if you back pack doesnt have one built in?) a rain cover. I use a clip on one from decathalon. And compeed. Oh and yes to the wide brim hat and headlamp. Are the water bottles metal or heavy duty plastic ? If so I wouldn't take them, I would be just buy mineral water in Spain...
