Maybe I’m in the minority but I really do use my trekking poles to maintain upper body fitness. I push myself forward with every stride, engaging my biceps, but mostly my triceps and deltoids. I also lean heavily on them going up and down hills. If I didn’t, I fear my upper body musculature...
Can anyone assist me with information about a Camino route traveling south out of Strasbourg? I think perhaps there used to be a guidebook, but it may no longer be in print. Any advice would be welcome!
Yes, Wells Fargo was put on notice of his travel plans. Their policy in replacing a debit card is to mail it to the address of record. They seem quite strict about this requirement. Perhaps if I send the card to Ivar using FedEx or DHL? Would that be safer than the Postal Service?
He has a credit card and a debit card. It’s the debit card that no longer works, hence my questions about buying currency with his credit card. Sorry if that was unclear.
A question for you veteran pilgrims: my son is currently on the Camino Frances just outside of Leon. His ATM card has ceased to function, we believe on account of a demagnetized strip. He has ordered a new card and we will mail it to him from the US when it arrives at our house, but in the...
I use Ziplocs for anything that might leak. Toiletries mainly. The only other thing I feel the need to bag up is my underwear/socks. I put those items in a super lightweight mesh bag, which keeps them together and can also go into the washing machine, keeping my laundry separated from others...
I purchased gaiters in SJPP for my April-May Camino last year and REALLY liked them. They protected my legs and feet below my poncho and kept my shoes cleaner and drier by keeping excess mud off them. Well worth the 30 euros I paid for them.
We hit a great price from Fort Lauderdale direct to Paris on Norwegian Air Shuttle. Haven't booked the return yet, but Norwegian looks to be the cheapest coming home as well. Just watch out for all the fees -- like $60 for a meal! We're going to carry food on. Only one checked bag between the...
I will be starting the Le Puy Camino in early June, along with my husband -- can we buy a pilgrim passport at the cathedral there? Or is there perhaps a pilgrim shop? Thanks!
OMG! I just wrote to Armand and volunteered to help at his gite for weeks 25 and 26. I told him I don't speak much French and that it was OK if he said no, I would understand. However, he said YES!!!!! OMG! Any advice would be most welcome. I have stayed at 20 or 25 albergues in Spain, but...
To the OP: I walked the Camino Frances in April and early May of this year and my experience was very close to what you have described. Thank you for your post. It makes me feel a bit less alone in my experience.
Rest, ice, compression, elevation and Ibuprofen. Can't recommend these enough. Results will amaze you.
Also, send pack ahead and plan on shorter distances. You will be fine, I just know it!
