I've always camped my Camino's; I've always wanted to take my Dog.
I tired of advice not to camp and the telling of the legal implications; there's plenty available; probably/possibly given by those who don't camp.
If you do it right, no one will know you are there, or have been there.......I...
There's a lot of sense in JabbaPapa's input; I've wild camped the Camino three times; I'm not going to run off the lists of do's, and dont's...............................you know thy common sense stuff.. I'v never had a bad issue; I 'dissapear'............then no one is to know; that's the way...
Hello,
I've used a bivvy bag on all my Camino's; it gives one peace of mind; there's always somewhere I can tuck myself away, and albergues become a luxury you can enjoy whenever you come accross one, that simply falls into place for you.
Remember; show respect, and leave no trace..........it's...
My Daughter and I camped on both of our Camino's, and loved the freedom it gave. We sometimes envied those carrying little, or no weight; but, we so enjoyed not being drawn into that rushing wave of people, persuing a bed for the night. It's good to do both, camping, and staying in the odd...
Hello, I too, walked part of the Camino; from SJPD, to Sansol in 2014; and yes, it was a wonderfull expeirience, with a plan to return a couple of years later to do another third, or maybe even finish. In the mean time, an accident led to the development of arthritis of the knee, and lower...
You have, with your few paragraphs, put into order, my mixed emotions, of why I find myself, needing to do 'special' things in Life; the Camino, my solitary hiking trips to the Hebrides, the list goes on. I feel like someone just switched on a light ! I'm sure I will learn, and maybe, change...
You rode the Camino by Bike !??
How was it........I have walked the first half........I have since had an accident, and cannot; I think, walk the rest; I would like to cycle it; but, must carry my camping kit. Would you recommend....or not?
Thank You.
Paul.
I find myself, reading this thread, because, I, following an accident, now find myself, with arthritis of my right knee, and some back problems too. I have only completed the first half of the Camino, and long to return to complete the journey. I so want to hear from anyone, who has found...
I have twice left my Jeep in SJdP on a campsite; the owners look after vehicles whilst you are away....and cheap too.
Then, its the bus back from wherever I get to> On my second visit, I bused to where I left off last time, so I picked up the Camino from where I last walked to; it worked well...
Had I let it, the Brierley(is that spelt right ?) would of ruined my Camino.
It is such a shame that so many books are creating 'stages'; there are so many places worth staying in between, that one can find not only welcoming, but peaceful. I did a few 'stages', it just wasn't for me, and I did...
My Heart goes out to this Pup and whoever it is that is rescuing. I have not the resources to help; but as an ex heavy good driver who knows Spain and Sweden, and everything in between very well..............I would love to give my time to help.
Hello,
I have happily camped on the Camino; and yes, some Albergues do allow camping on their grounds.....you simply pay the same as though you were using a bunk, that way, the facilities are yours to enjoy.
Some of my more enjoyable Albergue visits have been camped ones......just mix with...
Hello,
Although I have had no spinal surgery, I have suffered back problems for many years.
Recently, I took a fall; landing on my lower spine from about eight feet onto a tiled surface, and messing things up pretty badly, what wasn't all that good to start with.........I rather think that there...
My Daughter and I camped many times on our Camino; this way we could enjoy the company at the Alberues if we wished, but also , we were able to enjoy the peace of our own company when we felt the need.
We always were considerate, and left no trace of our stay; and in return were never chalenged...
Hello,
I shall be walking in June, and whilst not looking for a permament walking partner, it would be nice to learn of somone on this forum, that I can look forward to the occasional day's walk with.
Of course, we all walk at different paces, and have different ways.....but who knows......it...
Hello Judy,
When I walked my Camino in July this year, itwas something that I did for myself; however, the question did come to mind of...why should other people not benefit in some way too.
My Daughter, who walked with me created a page on the 'Just Giving' site, and each of us sent emails to...
Thank you all for your input.
We have returned from a wonderfull Camino; on which, we stayed in Albergues, Church porches, wild camped, and even just under the stars.
There was no problem from any one about our camping.........the moral here, is simply leave the area just how you found it.
When...
Thank you all for your helpfull information.
We got back to SJPdP just fine by bus.......easy when you know how !
We had a wonderfull Camino eperience; the hardest part was to leave the path once we had done what distance our time allowed.
Back next yeat to do some more....or even all the...
I must confess, I felt quite secure at all times.
Looking back, I wonder why I was so easy going, as I am normally very security concious.
Take simple precautions, and all should be well.
Regards,
Paul.
