Could not agree more with this post. Just walk shorter stages and start closer. IMO, Do not cancel! You have no idea what life may throw at you in the meantime. Go!
I think we all have a comfort level for uncertainty. Speaking as a fellow with some health problems, my risk profile is a lot different from some other people. In general, it means that I plan more rather than less. However, on my three caminos so far, the plan has changed and modified as I...
Hey guys, I have just returned home to Canada early from the Camino Frances and thought my story might help others.
I left Canada on Feb 29th and started walking on March 4 in Leon. I had done SJPP to Leon last spring and my plan was to complete the Leon to Santiago portion by the end of...
I did this last year (rented an ebike) as my feet were done by Burgos from SJPDP. Cycled Burgos to Leon. Still challenging, make sure the seat is new or newish and, THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT, get a proper fitting pair of bike shorts with padding. I did not and suffered the consequences. My...
Hello all. I am return to Leon to finish my CF started from France last year. I will be in Leon for the 3rd and start walking on the 4th. If anyone is around and feels like a glass of wine or a coffee with a fellow forum participant, just let me know via PM, thanks.
I too am a slow walker. When I am earnestly trying to cover some ground, about 5km and hour. On a typical day: 4km per hour. I target 20km per day or less as a rule. It is a luxury, I know that many folks are on a tight timeline.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I started the CF last March 3 (2023) and it was snow for the first two days, cool into Pamplona and then warm all the way. Sounds like the I will almost certainly need the gloves, beanie etc. sounds wonderful, in fact :)
I am planning on completing my CF from Leon to Santiago in March 2024. I can see the monthly average temperature etc. online but was interested in the experience of others. If you have done this section in March, please share your perceptions and lessons learned, thanks!
In the early spring of this year, travelling alone on the Camino before Easter I stayed two nights (one full day of rest) in Sahagun. Enjoyed the stay and had a wonderful Camino experience. It was a Monday before Easter (2 weeks before) and everything was closed museum wise. As I was talking...
I finished SJPP to Leon on March 30th, booked every night before leaving. My mind was free of worry and the walk was wonderful. To each his own way but I would observe that if you define a single set of criteria for the "authentic" experience and everything else as "tourist trap" then......
I...
My first solo Camino was last spring, Porto-Santiago. Second just finished SJPP to Leon. My darling wife at home with her important interests (see my picture....grands'). I only know this: there is room in life and in your marriage for you to pursue an independent and perhaps solitary course...
