Any info you can pass on about whether there are kitchen facilities in those albergues would be great. Then we’ll know whether to bring cookable food or lots of bocadillos and chocolate for those 2 days🤣
My notes about the section for Bolea to Sarsamacuello re availability of food (culled from various posts on this forum) are to buy food in loarre (on the way) buy lunch, dinner and breakfast for Sarsamacuello
+ lunch/dinner/breakfast for Ena (+ lunch for walk after Ena).
On way – food/bars...
I just called the apartment in Linyola to see if the apartment was taken on my dates ( booking said it was full). The very friendly person I spoke to asked me to call back tomorrow to confirm. Relevant to you is that she mentioned that they also have a single room which is separate from the...
We’ll be there next week. Your posts are really informative. Much appreciated. Can you post the number for the police station and any other info re accessing the albergue when you’ve arrived. Buen camino y muchísimas gracias.
We
We did the Lana in May 2022 and loved it. We started in Alicante and finished in Burgos. We met only 2 other pilgrims in the 4 weeks that we walked. There were albergues along the way - very rarely used ones so you had to call a day or two ahead to let them know you were coming and where...
Hi Rae. You can also volunteer at on of the many donativo albergues around Spain managed by Hospitaleros Voluntarios (HosVol). You’ll need to take a short training course in US first. Check out the American Pilgrims on the Camino group for more information.
We walked the Lana last year. There’s a little bit of road walking - small back roads - as you walk out of Alicante on the first day. After that it was mainly on rural paths except when you reached a small town or village.
Personally I would never stay in an albergue that had cameras in the dorms. A dormitory is a private place where people get changed and sleep and it is not appropriate for this to be monitored or filmed. I feel sympathy for this pilgrim, but it is the responsibility of individual pilgrims, not...
You can opt in/out for albergues that have communal dinner and religious services so there is some choice. Also it’s part of the fun not knowing where you’re going 🤣
There is no definitive list. I think at the moment they organise placements for about 17 donativo albergues. Mainly on Camino Frances, but a few on other caminos. As mentioned above, once you are trained, you just provide the 2 week periods that you are available ( 1st fortnight or 2nd...
Absolutely yes - to everything that you have said. So beautiful. Sitting here in Sydney your words are so evocative of every Camino I have walked …. I long to be back. Thank you 🙏💕
Just to clarify our experience ….. in May this year Pepe in Villaconejos told us that an agreement had been reached with the owners of the finca that pilgrims could walk through. We arrived at the entry gate and picked up the key which was hanging on a tree next to the gate. We stuck to the...
