If you stay in accommodation offering Demi-Pension (DP), which is evening meal, bed, breakfast. Then you may not want much more.
It’s enough for me, i do occasionally carry a snack, but not normally.
Yes i have plans to go to Rocamadour next time i’m in Figeac.
I also booked 1 (or 2) days ahead on the Podiensis. But it does seem busier in the last couple of years. I’m sure it can still be done though. Depends on the time of year, and if you are walking solo.
On the Célé route i would book...
A very good quicker route i’ve done before is
Figeac
Espagnac
Marcilhac
Cabrerets
St Cirq
Pasturat (or Bears/Vers if you want to get a bit further ahead)
Cahors.
I book ahead on the Célé, there isn’t a great deal of accommodation, and i have missed out on places even booking early.
Probably my favourite way of walking the Célé route is this. It does take more days, but is more relaxed.
However you walk it, it is a great route.
Figeac to Beduer.
Beduer to Brengues.
Brengues to Marcilhac ( accommodation Le Picarel, past Marcilhac )
Marcilhac to Cabrerets (Hotel des...
The célé route typically takes a day longer than the gr65, but is much more scenic.
Also more up and down, but worth it.
I’ve walked it 3 times.
I’ll post some thoughts on it later when i have time.
As nice as Orrison is (on a clear day) if you start early you will be there in time for a late breakfast.
The last time i walked that route i went straight to Roncesvalles and was there in time for lunch.
I think the toughest part of the day is the walk to Orrison.
Demi-Pensión is a must really.
Don’t worry too much about recommendations, wherever you stay is very likely to be good.
The communal meals are great.
Bunk beds are a rarity.
If you want to try somewhere special, this place is great. New last year, Owned by a Michelin starred chef and his...
If you would like some company then i second Aire-sur-l’adour to St Jean.
It is a great walk with great food.
Definitely go Demi-Pensión.
I recommend the Chapelle des Ursulines for a unique experience, or La Maison des Pelerins. Both in Aire sur l’Adour. To start you off.
If you’ve not...
The Podiensis is considered to be one of the most beautiful of the ways towards Santiago.
The food is fantastic.
Not many bunk beds.
Very friendly.
A bit more expensive than Spain, but not too much, depends where you stay.
If you google The Camino Podcast by Dave Whitson. It has a series of...
If you mean reconnecting with the GR65 from St Cirq, then it is obviously a long day and not quite enough to split. It is ok as a walk but not special.
I’ve walked the Célé route a few times and if you was thinking of splitting the day i’d recommend going down to the river, walking to Bouzies...
