This is true, but I have walked Camino Portuguese central and Camino Frances, so already have received Compostela for them ....as wonderful as it is to cherish them, this time its just about enjoying the walk and fitting into my timeframe.
I have been reading on the forum that many have suggested skipping the complicated walk in and out of Vigo. As I am time limited I am going to take this advice and get a taxi from one side to the other. Whereas I am happy to avoid industrial areas and city limits, I don't want to miss anything...
Sorry to hear this, but agree with you that you can still enjoy your camino - just differently! I second Pontavedra ....and Padron is also lovely. Have fun!
You need to strengthen your core muscles. This is best achieved through yoga or Pilates. I am a yoga teacher for over 20 years and my classes are full of people like you who by strengthening the core turns their life around (think of them as the guy ropes of your body). I also have L4 L5 S1 S2...
Thank you so much, I was unaware the pilgrim mass was held four times a day. This is what is stated on Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim’s Reception Office website..."Pilgrim’s Mass is held every day at 12.00 p.m. and 7.30 a.m. In Holy Years the number of pilgrim masses increases, due to the large...
No....not crazy at all!! Whatever your friend can manage to walk will be worthwhile. Lots of people take public transport or taxis for all sorts of reasons - do not cancel your plans .... go for it!
I have been lucky enough to walk into Santiago 5 times now, the first two times with my son when we actually got to see the Botafumiero swing (April 2014 and March 2015). We even managed to get a seat on a pew! However the last two visits my friend and I have been unable to get into the...
Caminofacil... they are brilliant, my friend and I used them several times over last couple of Camino Portuguese and will do so again this year. Contact them and they will give you a quote, you can organise the time and place months ahead, and they are incredibly reliable. Highly recommend!
Definitely take the swimsuit - you will be far more comfortable when staying at your lovely hotels - and I would take one trouser and one shorts (you can hike in shorts whether its hot or not).. if you find you need a second pair its easier to buy a pair of trousers on the camino than a swimsuit!
Wow - have you seen how many tattoos are out there these day - will be a lot of unhealthy people going forward - by the way my dad got tattoos age 16 - He is 88 and still going strong. Don’t think OP needs to worry too much 😂
No problem .. all drivers understand “airport”. The cost is 1-2 euro.. make sure you have coins to keep the driver happy. Bus 6A - If you can’t find the bus stop - the friendly locals will point you in the right direction. It’s easy peasy!
Definitely cash only. It’s a local bus and the fare is only 2 euros. I caught it just last week 😂 it’s a great service, think it runs every 30 minutes.
Sounds good. Are you able to advise which banks they are for future caminos. I cringe when I check my bank statements at the charges I have paid over 6 caminos so far 🫣
Hi just back from latest Camino. I used Latitude Mastercard (no foreign exchange charges). Backup Amex which I rarely used. Also loaded some euros onto Commonwealth bank travel card. (Good idea to store a spare (locked) card somewhere safe in case of loss). If you use preloaded travelcards...
