Hmmmmmm,
after 8 years of walking Caminos in Spain and Portugal i can say:
my Inov 8 Trailtalon (235 gms each) worked fine, other Inov 8 too. I walked about 100 kms in Crocs on all my Caminos. And my Via de la Plata stretch from Seville to Salamanca (500 kms) i walked in Crocs, my only pair of...
For backpack attachment my suggestions for light umbrella models are
Gossamer Gear Clamp or
Drinking tube holder (Amz, Eby, Ali), (i use 3 of them to thread the umbrella)
To fix the umbrella safely and stable at the hip belt, replace the loop with one twice as long!
I have also the...
Hmmm, hy @pookiebear2002,
first of all i fully agree with @FSP and @dougfitz.
AND: i used my beloved 66 liters Gossamer Gear G4, the great great grandfather of all ultralight packs: ~385 grams plus ~75 additional grams for the hip belt, almost ~470 grams (can be loaded with ~15 kgs) for the...
Hi @Gibbo147 ,
perhaps you will find one or another useful idea in my pack list i developed over the last 7 years of walking caminos (starting unexperienced on 8,5 kg :eek:in 2013 (dry and without food!)): https://lighterpack.com/r/y70rbu

my evolution solution:
My point of view after 7 caminos is the (ultra)light one.
First i used a 2 liter Camel bladder: 180 grams. Hard to clean and dry. And heavy.
Then i used the...
My point of view after 7 caminos is the (ultra)light one.
First i used a 2 liter Camel bladder: 180 grams. Hard to clean and dry. And heavy.
Then i used the mentioned tube system delivered with different adapters. Almost 90 grams. And daily „fresh“ 1.5 liter bottles (avg. 30 grams for the...
an alternative that i have used for years: ultralight 5 grams, 1 to 2 Euros. Can really recommend it. I take one or two 1.5 liter bottles in the back and refill a 0.5 /0.6 liter bottle and click it in the front. So i can drink regularly and am forced to stop sometimes, even just for a refill...
Where can i get them in Europe / Germany? I couldn‘t find them anyhwere but at Gossamer Gear in US. Shipping them to germany is .... nope! Have the phantastic HandsFree TeleScope with the clips and the half weight one without any clips, can only adjust them with velcro (really bad solution).
So...
The Euroschirm teleScope handsfree is the largest and heaviest one (469 g), comes with two clips (left, right) and is very, very stabile, even in hard windy conditions!
Had the "lighter one" (255 g, attachable only with velcro, "home made style") with me this year on the Camino de San Salvador...
I totally agree. I use to smile or lough UNDER my umbrella. Imagine, 40 degrees C and 30 kms on the Via de la Plata without shade or hard rain and winds... sometimes for weeks like 2019 on the Camino de San Salvador and Primitivo. Whenever i use my Euroschirm handsfree teleScope (3 segments) i‘m...
I use a Gossamer Gear G4 (the grand grand grandfather of all ultralight packs), 385 grams, 60 litre since 2014. Meanwhile i reduced the weight of my setup for this year to 3.3 kg. I don‘t like to stuff especially my (down) sleeping bag too much and transport it and all my stuff very loose in my...
Hello @geographer , but with pleasure!
the yellow markers need my attention to be optimized next.
So for this year's camino that means a
backpack weight of 3.200 g
plus a hip bag (for the important things like glasses, sunglasses, ligther, knife, smartphone, ...) and a value bag on the...
The umbrella is very stable even in really stormy conditions as it is fixed at two points. The whole construction is stable but a little heavy (470 grams with 3! not only two segments to be packed in the backpack).
I really can recommend an umbrella and a rain kilt. Allows to wear no rain jacket or the rain jacket open. With the kilt you never are wet under your rain trousers. My umbrella is hands free, attached to the pack, hands fee for the poles. Dual use in the sun (e.g. 39 degrees C on the Via de la...
Yes, mine are Crocs "Cross". And i had an additional thin sole on it to prevent sharp or sticky punctures. 44 grams. I can´t find the crocs Cross anywhere the last year. Phantastic shoes!
like these...
I did the VdP South from Sevilla to Salamanca in Crocs Cross. My only pair of shoes on the VdP South! I walked about 100 km on the CF in Crocs, 100 on the CN, 100 on the CP. I really can recommend Crocs. As first or second pair. Depends on the weather, yes. Dry feet in airy shoes. Extremely good...
