I totally agree with that. My husband tended to "push too hard", so we instituted a break every hour, for 5-10 minutes. It worked extremelly well, as it was a very natural rythm for me and he also adapted to it quickly.
Like @good_old_shoes, it was just a quick stop for some water, feet rest...
Somewhat common in Portuguese as well (Mãe de Deus).

Can people enrol in a courser like this if they have no plans of being a hospitalero in the near future, but are interested in learning new skills? Or are you expected to be available at some point, given the shortage of hospitaleros?
(I totally understand if the course is for people who are...
What do you mean, you found a kitten? You saw one on the trail and took it home with you?????
I only lost a a hair tie and a pair of sunglasses, and those were post camino, on the trip back to Australia. They probably fell in a bathroom in Singapore airport.
The list of gains is too long to...
I think the AI covered all bases of what "a hare next to it" meant :D I'd be curious to see what other pictures you may get if you explain it in different ways!
O Cebreiro is a very special place to start, it's one of the oldest villages on the trail! And you will not be alone- there are always lots of other pilgrims on the Camino Frances.
The route is indeed safe and very well marked with yellow arrows. You should have no problems following it...
Hi there! You don't need to be a part of a group to start, and you can choose which city is the best starting point for you, depending on how many days you have for your trip.
Saint Jean, pamplona, burgos, Leon, Astorga and Sarria are popular starting places with train/bus connection to other...
Burgos is a nice place. If you feel like, go inside the cathedral and look for a curious carving on a white marble arch to the left: it shows Joseph celebrating the birth of Jesus with a huge mug of beer! 🤣
Hope you can have a good rest and recover a bit, then go to Leon, and so on. All the best!
I don't rest after a certain amount of miles, I actually stop to rest after each one hour of walking. Because some miles take longer than others depending on terrain!
Walk one hour, stop 10-15 min to stretch and rest, that's my usual rhythm. But as you said, it may vary - if after one hour I'm...
I would take the bus ahead to Leon - will get rid of the " I'm behind schedule" sensation.
If budget allows , I'd also splurge on a nice, private roomin a hotel, to have proper rest and recover physically. Then I'd take a day to enjoy Leon (the cathedral, the Romanesque Church, the templar...
The reasons are exactly the same of those people who live near Spain and do it. The only difference is that it costs more and takes more time.
Being a bit repetitive, I long gave up about thinking in absolutes about the days and distances. Australia is far, no matter what I think of it. So I...
I live in Australia, and the cost of getting to Spain is ludicrous. But the second issue (getting away for a long period) actually holds me harder, given responsibilities at home and with family.
For that reason, I totally changed my mentality about it making sense or not to go for a short...
The above suggestions are great. Toledo, Segovia and Cuenca are incredible towns and very easy to reach from Madrid.
But as you have 3 weeks, I would probably go to Andaluzia and visit Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla, to understand the other side of the "santiago matamoros" story: the Spanish...
How much my tiny body can endure, and how replenished it feels with only some food, a shower and sleep.
(And seconding all above who talk about gratitude. It's hard to explain)
Gosh, I clicked into this topic thinking Spain is building treehouses for Afghanistan pilgrims and get faced with tree blankets and Aunt Edna. This forum is full of surprises.
Lovely yarn bomb, btw 😄
The above advice of learning at least some basic phrases is surely the best thing anyone can do. It's polite, it opens doors, it makes the entire difference for you and for the people you engage with.
I'm not a native English speaker, but I do speak 3 languages fluently and other 2 quite well...
I was also a bit confused, because I never used the service for a whole camino (And that's how I understood the question). But I used it for 3 days in one camino, so responded accordingly... injury, in our case.
