I haven't bee yet myself but I've read over and over about people taking a bus or taxi if they find themselves behind. I say to take it at what ever pace you feel comfortable in and really listen to your body. Running and swimming aren't done everyday for a month with a pack on your back.

Re: I will walk the “CAMINO” with “NO” money!
It's your Camino. Don't let anybody disuade you from your journey. At this point in my life I don't think I could do it your way.
I have read about people doing the same or nearly the same thing. I'm pulling for you from this end.
Good luck...
Falcon... Apple doesn't play with Adobe at all. So no Flash websites or .pdf reading.
You may get another document reader that can though.
The Adobe limitation is one reason I choose Android.

My thoughts exactly Vagabondette. Surely a small pack with water, snacks (maybe lunch as well), rain gear/poncho and a few personal items wouldn't be too heavy. Perhaps you could throw in 1extra changes of clothes.

I totally understand your frustration. I too have had to move dates and probably will again. I have a chronic condition that creates many issues for me but a major one is that it causes me to have greatly reduced stamina. I can't seem to be able to get out of the "early" planning stages. Like...
You can use a camel hair paint brush to pollinate your flowers. It will simulate the bees. Dont use man made fiber brushes as the pollen doesnt stick well.
I live in an apartment with a screened porch. ALL my plants have to be hand pollinated. My wife has talked about buying me a yellow shirt...
If you are planning on a tent have you thought of a tube tent. Just a tube of plastic and some cord to string between 2 trees. If trees arent handy then you can use 2 hiking poles and tent stakes. A tube tent will cost less than $10 and weigh in at less than 8oz alone or 10oz with 4 stakes...
I too am interested to find this out. My gut says most leave SJPdP between Saturday and Monday as most would start vacation at that time. Interesting topic though. Could affect start time planning for many of us that have a bit more flexibility in our Camino.

Joni. There is nothing written that says he couldn't join you for the start then bus/train to Santiago before heading home to pet the cat. You will then have some shared experiences and can also compare thoughts on visiting the cathedral with your "different" experiences.

Re: Re: Sleeping Bag vs Silk Liner
Or treat a Tyvek sheet to lay on. You can get them at 4.5 feet wide x 7.5 feet long for about $12-$15 that weighs only about 7oz. This would cover the top of the bed and even protect exposed body parts. Soaked in permethrin this should offer protection for...
Re: Re: May 14 and counting!
I would like to start off by saying that I haven't made a Camino yet. However, I've done a fair bit of reading about this pilgrimage and have other hiking and world wide travel experience to offer here.
1) You may need a bit more money than you are planning on...
Re: Weight restrictions on Camino Frances
Maybe she was a cosmotologist and wanted to practice her trade on the porters. If that is the case she would need a kilo worth.

Re: Weight restrictions on Camino Frances
Mysticl... why would you condem your husband to sleeping someplace else without you because you didn't want to be over pack weight and he has to be bussed for carrying his AND your items?
I haven't made a Camino yet but I am wondering just how hard...
If you are wearing a poncho you might want to consider a pair of Gaiters to keep the rest of your legs and your boots/shoes dry as well. They are very light weight and can change you from being miserable to just grumpy on wet days. As most of your boot/shoe are covered they will not get as wet...
