I over packed on my Camino....but here is what I finished with having walked mid April to June.
2normal bras
2 pants
1 super light shorts mostly to sleep in
1 skirt....worn daily....too hot for anything else.
3 very thin vest tops....sleeping in one
1 hat and light cotton scarf ....both worn wet...
Update I sent on 2.5kgs of gear...including some clothes and sleeping bag....mainly due to very hot weather....although was not really struggling with my original pack weight.....it was noticeably easier with less.....I did buy some really cheap light thin vest tops to replace tech t-shirts and...
Hi Frank I flew from stansted to biarittz in April using Ryanair. I used gaffer tape to secure the straps of rucksack and also wrapped tape from top to bottom and round a few times so it could not be opened and side pockets were secure. On check in it was put into a small box for transfer into...
It took me a while to get my pack right...for me...not having to drag everything out to find one item.....in the top pocket I had my first aid kit and toothpaste and brush..mini pen torch and guide book...in my main pack I had a couple of zip lock bags each containing socks, underwear, t shirt...
I think it very much depends on weather....May this year was hottest on record for europe....and believe me it was hot.....chowe that time of year as I thought it would be cooler....and packed accordingly.
Ended up getting rid of all my hi tech light weight gear in favour of
3 very thin cotton...
You would only need a net for the tidal estuary at lires....hundreds of fish ...Don't know what they were.....but you could honestly just put in a net and caught a dozen at a time....but maybe that's not fishing....
Didn't get on with tech socks or liners....ended up buying thin coolmax....Spanish brand socks they worked fine....if I had thought good weather was guaranteed would have just used sandals ....no socks....but was May and was expecting more rain not temps of 37'c. Don't get too bogged down by all...
Fantastic...very cool....comfortable..would highly recommend if you are expecting it to be hot when you go.....i think 37'c was the hottest temp in May...i dislike the heat.....some people asked if I had any chaffing but luckily I did not. I think Vaseline or a barrier cream/spray such as...
My essentials
A skirt I put in as a just in case.....wore it almost everyday for 5 weeks.
Light cheesecloth scarf.....another just in case item......wore it wet for 2-3 weeks wrapped round my neck or head.....was hot hot hot in May.
My pacer poles......love them to bits.....nearly lost them on...
I didn't find that Martin...I thought they were extremely useful....made me feel more confident on some of the more tricky downhill bits ...loose rock and stones....maybe I had different technique of using my pacers.
As said earlier by someone else....horses for courses....just finished my Camino..took pacer poles....Love them....used them every day....No blisters...No tendonitis....and no nasty injuries from falls ....as my poles prevented this from happening on a number of occassions...don't know if...
Take whatever sits comfortably on your back when fully packed with what you intend to take and worn for seven hours per day.....mine is 60l quarter full and comfortable all day long.....size only matters if you try to fill it to capacity. Just my opinion sure others will dis agree x Buen Camino
Have really struggled with weight of my pack...which is prob too big but fits really well....no shoulder pain which was awful with smaller pack....1/2hr and I was ready to give up......it is now less than 10kilos including poles excluding food/water...Am walking April/May so have packed for all...
I had a rucksack that I considered too heavy/large 60L so bought a lighter/smaller one....which seemed fine, packed and worn round house for hours on end.....but gave me the most awful aching shoulders imaginably after an hour walking outside....have now gone back to my original one....preened a...
I just picked up a few different styles from what was available in the store....they were not my favourite until I tried them on....I don't do much internet shopping with being tall always best to try on first....don't like the hassle of having to send stuff back...have just found style code...
