LIVE from the Camino Luka on the Sanabrés

I'm not sure, but my son was the "navigator" and usually prefers staying off roads when possible.

    A Armenteria

That is where I stayed in 2019.

LIVE from the Camino Luka on the Sanabrés

Maybe we took a different path than you, as we had few roads until we got closer to the monastery. Here is a section of my forum report for that portion of the walk, although I am not very detailed...

    Porto to Villa do Conde

I walked from Porto cathedral along the river to Matosinhos, then to Villa de Conde the following day. It was nice, but having just completed the Rota Vicentina Fisherman's Trail cliff views for a week+, I was missing the Frances "feel" so decided to turn on to the Central route at Rates and...

LIVE from the Camino Luka on the Sanabrés

Luka, I hope you are feeling better. We stayed in Cea less than two weeks ago, and thought the very short 10k walk to Oseira would be "a piece of cake". We had had some drizzle and light rain in Ourense, but it was mostly sunny going to Cea. For me that easy 10k was quite a surprise as it is...

    Prices on Gronze for rooms

Nice for people to know that about albergue rates. I was only referring to Booking.com offerings on Gronze.

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

Laurie, I thought you had a pair of the wonderful Black Diamond bungee smaller folding poles. I had not heard of anyone owning them that had had security remove them from their backpack. Possibly I missed a few posts on other threads saying otherwise.

    Prices on Gronze for rooms

I don't think it is easy for Gronze and other apps to keep up on fluctuating room prices as it depends on many factors and is not fair to expect perfection from those who manage the apps. Most recently, one of the pension's I needed the location for my planned stage, Gronze showed the...

    Sanabres- Downhill to Ponte Ulla!

I had no trouble with that section on the Primitivo going down to the dam. The switchbacks were many, more gradual and on a true path, not smooth road. Also I was eight years younger...maybe that had something to do with my success.😅

    Zubiri hazardous path

Thanks, Rick. I hadn't seen @Peregrinopaul's informative post before; it's great!

    Sanabres- Downhill to Ponte Ulla!

Good idea, Laurie. I think part of my problem was that I did not really pay close attention to Gronze that day and had no clue how extremely L o n g and unrelenting it was going to be. Yes, I am aware of zigzagging, but never thought I would be needed to do that with "such good knees"🙄 as I'd...

    Sanabres- Downhill to Ponte Ulla!

I completed the Sanabres Camino a week ago after having started in Rionegro del Puente. I am a forum member who enjoys the downhills as my knees have always been strong. The uphills wear me out rather quickly, so I am not as "fond" of them. For anyone on the Sanabres now, or contemplating...

    Zubiri hazardous path

I walked it in 2015 and 2017. I have no recollection of it being a difficult stretch, so apparently a lot of erosion has happened in the last few years on the way to Zubiri.

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

Yes, if they see you they will enlist your help with mopping the floors.

LIVE from the Camino My Camino Frances 2024

Hi David, You are definitely making some good lemonade decisions out of a few lemons your daughter has experienced from feeling ill. I might add that I think Avila could be a great choice for a couple of days. It is a favorite smaller city of mine with its stunning intact walls around its...

    Recovering, step by step

Hi Peter, I think sharing the update on your broken ankle and stages of recovery is a great idea and hope you notice more good results in the weeks to come! I am up early with jet lag, and my routine is to always take a look at the forum with my morning coffee to see what came in overnight...

LIVE from the Camino Camino Sanabres 2024

Hi James, I just completed the Sanabres last Saturday (May 11th) and I posted a "Live on the Camino" thread each day. I also had a few days of intermittent rain, but also plenty of sunshine. I took pictures of every stone art mojone I saw...61 in total! Here is information about the artist...
