    Ryanair Carry-On

Last time I flew any European airlines in Europe anything you carried on had a charge and if you didn’t pay for it ahead of time when you booked your ticket it was pricey to pay for at the airport. Apparently they are changing towards that internationally too so just make sure that you read all...

    Ryanair and cabin bags?

Yes they do (as of last year anyway) charge for carryons and for handbags but if you pay for them when you buy your ticket you don’t get charged the exorbitant fee at the airport.

    Social anxiety

Oh I do hear you. I felt it too. Most of the time I hiked by myself which I quite enjoyed, and I did much better when I brought my Kindle the second time I hiked, so I could read at night before I went to sleep and that helped a lot. If I ran into the same people on the trail more than once or...

Purchasing Orange ESIM for Data, Calls and Texts in Europe with Unlocked iPhone: Any Recommendations?

Hi! If you have a newer (less than two years old) phone you can go to the Orange website and buy it there. Just pick the one that works for you and download it. You will be able to add it to your phone but don’t connect it til you land in Europe. All the information is on Orange and it’s very...

International SIM Cards: Will buying one in Spain work in France?

If you have a newer phone you might be able to get an e SIM card which you simply download into your phone. No need to physically switch one in. I did that last fall and used it in France and Portugal. With Orange it’s good all over Europe. Check into it online and see if your phone is...

Sleeping bag and or sleeping sheet on Le Puy camino ?

If you’re camping of course bring a sleeping bag. But if you’re staying in gites then a sleeping sac will be fine. Everywhere I stayed had warm blankets and pillows but most did not have sheets. Enjoy the hike!

4 most beautiful days on Podiensis

Walking into Conques was amazing. And the three days before it. Staying at the abbey there and hearing the organ concert is one of my life top memories 😊😊. Lisa

Miam Miam Dodo for Camino Le Puy

Thé 2023 version (or the latest) when it comes out if you’re hiking this year coming up. Things change and open and close and it’s nice to have it up to date. Buen Camino!

Le Puy Lodging Reservations via Tourist Offices

I didn’t see too many along this route. I would recommend getting a guide book (I used Miam miam dodo) and either calling (if you can speak French) or emailing ahead of time. With a guide book you can see if the hosts speak your language, whether there’s shared rooms and baths, dinner and/or...

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

I am splitting the Le Puy to SSJP into three trips. I’ve finished two and have a third left. It’s due to money, time and the desire to have a chunk of time to do other things while I’m over in Europe. It’s lovely to do it that way but I also see the beauty in doing it in one long trip. Whichever...

Where do you carry your valuables?

However contact pay is not available everywhere and gîtes and albergues prefer cash and some only take cash.

Rely on wifi or get a data plan?

Get an Orange e SIM or regular SIM and the holiday plan. It’s a solid company throughout Europe and you can top up online anytime if you need to.

Traveling from western Canada - how far in advance do you book your flights?

I always fly Air France as they are reliable and don’t change dates or times like air Canada. Also it’s a great flight from Vancouver just over nine hours to Paris and flies overnight so I always sleep on it for at least six hours. Gets into CDG at 8:10 am Paris time. Then it’s easy to catch a...

Welcome back Nerves! Its been a while

I didn’t know others felt this too! Yes I get nervous and anxious and worry and then when I’m hiking I feel blissful. I get anxious on the trail at times too. I walk alone and so far just have done parts of the chemin du st Jacques. It will be fine! Buen camino!
