    Trekking poles

I have pacerpoles and love them. 4 pair of black diamond poles lay around unused. I tried liking poles and found them wanting. Leki poles

Construction on the pipeline near the Puerto de Pajares

In 2019,I took the recommended route up the hill behind the bar. Coming down the hill was difficult and slippery. To do it again I would take the road. The few trucks there were, were going very slowly, and not be a problem.of course this is only my opinion.

    Shoes on the CF

The U.S. Army has a saying-a pound on your feet is 5 pounds on your back. I do not care what people put on their feet. My friend walked the primitivo in sandals, with no problems. I only suggest people should try different options and see what worked for them. I have climbed many mountains...

    Shoes on the CF

I gave up wearing boots years ago. See how many on the PCT wear boots!

    Which way to go...?

Do the salvador and then do as much of the primitivo as you have time for. I like the mountains so did the Salvador. Also did the aragones, starting in Pau which was very nice.

Finisterre Route ... very quiet 🤔

I walked to Muxia in 2017,and met only 1 hiker as entering Muxia. Otherwise only saw people in the albergues. I guess nothing has changed. Which,by the way,is very good. I am glad most of the Frances hoard stops in Santiago!

    Making Plans Primitivo

Walked the primitivo and Verde in 2017 and had no trouble getting a compostela.

Linking the Norte to the San Salvador

You could walk the vasco from Irun to burgos( train from st.jean to bayonne then down the coast to irun). Very rural and quiet.

    Camino Verde trail conditions?

You do not continue on the Norte. At Boimorto you can head west to santiago. It is well marked, and I wanted to avoid the frances hoard, and found it quite enjoyable.

Pau or Oloron Sainte Marie to Puente de la Reina

I agree. I walked from Lescar to Orolon in 2019 and found it a long slog. The limestone terrain finds you walking up a long hill, then down sharply, over and over and over. If I did it again,I would stop in Lasscomende. There is a winery there, from which I bought a bottle of the nest white wine I...

Paulo Coelho's "The Pilgrimage" to be made into a Netflix movie

I guess that I am a bit in the minority, but I have all of Coehlo's books and enjoyed them very much. Carlos Castaneda speaks of a reality that is very different from our ordinary reality, which is maybe why it is so strange to so many.

    Memorable Climbs

I remember the walk from ruesta. I also hated all of the false summits on the road! Luckily there was a horse trough at the top to drink out of.

Pau or Oloron Sainte Marie to Puente de la Reina

I walked from Lescar to Estella in 2019. To Orolon with an app,I still got lost about 4 times. If I were to do it again,I would take 2 days to go to Orolon. There were few markers in France, even road signs. An app was a needed. The train now goes to Bedous, but the walk to Sarrance was very...

    Camino Verde trail conditions?

I walked the Verde in2019,loved it,the green patches were easy to follow, and never got lost. After biomorto there is a variant that goes to lavacola then santiago. It is well marked and easy to follow. I wanted to avoid the Frances crush, and would walk this way again. The albergue in biomorto...

Sleeping bag or Sleeping bag liner

I always take a bag. Also there is special soap for down bags, wash in bath tub,and dry in dryer on low heat. Came out perfect!

Long distances between services on the Aragones

The stretch to ruesta is pretty dry. I drank out of the stock tank on the top of an endless uphill.

    Oloron-Sainte-Marie to Santiago

What about the the the Gite in Sarrance. Is it open all year?

    Food on the Primitivo

I walked the primitivo in 2017 at the age of 75. I enjoyed the walk and found it very doable. I walked the hospitals route and found it a disappointing slog. There was a fellow at the pass selling snacks and drinks. I had no food problems, anywhere. If I did it again(and I loved the trip) I would...

    Littoral path

Thanks; could you tell me where you stayed on the Vasco, and if there were any problems with accommodations or anything else?
