    Camino by Coach

Unfortunately for many it is. Or still simply just another souvenir. In it's current form it only has any true religious significance if you endow it with that.

Having done something very similar I feel for you. Good luck and hope you get well soon

Camino Ingles - 38% increase in pilgrim numbers this year

Sigüeiro seems to have a surprising amount of accommodation. Whilst I saw and have since heard of people struggling to find cheap accommodation in Pontedeume, and anything at all in Bruma, I've not heard of anyone having issues here. There are several Albergues, plus a number of pensions, most...

Camino Ingles - 38% increase in pilgrim numbers this year

I just pulled up the statistics for the Inglés, starting in March. I combined April and March because last year Easter was in April this year in March, as we all know Easter is very significant. Combined the Numbers were just 35% up on last year, May alone was 42% up. I fully appreciate that...

Camino Ingles - 38% increase in pilgrim numbers this year

Just out of curiosity, where did you stay in Bruma? The reason I ask is that according to Gronze there are only roughly 80 beds in the immediate area, and with an average of 100 people a day going through in June '23 alone, it stands to reason that some days a significant number of people are...

I agree completely, you certainly need to read the T&C's. Mine, for short trips, is adequate. Because in New Zealand I typically just get four weeks holiday a year and we would generally be gone for longer if we came to Europe - which was every second year - we generally purchased a year...

Post items from the UK to Spain (at the mid-point of Camino del Norte)

Ok, I have read it again, however that's not how I read it. The header says quite clearly "Post items from the UK to Spain", the OP then goes on to say : As I read it she plans to bring some with her and anticipates collecting the rest part way.

    Travel Insurance

Yes I was a little hasty in my first post - when travelling out of NZ I've always taken travel insurance for longer periods (if I just travel for a couple of weeks I always purchase my flights with my MasterCard, which gives me 30 day free travel insurance). Here in Germany as a resident I...

Post items from the UK to Spain (at the mid-point of Camino del Norte)

I recently bought a couple of second hand books online in the UK, and had the seller post them to me here in Germany. 3 weeks after they'd been posted I received a customs invoice for more than the total cost of the books & shipping...... . It had to be paid before they would deliver the books...

Shortest section between Camino del Norte and Primitivo.

Definitely! 43.6km. I believe most people generally split it at Pola de Siero (26.9km).

Camino Ingles - 38% increase in pilgrim numbers this year

I’m with @Bradypus on this one, with the exception of Bruma. And I walked during Semana Santa last year, arriving Easier Friday- THE busiest day of the period. Everything around Bruma was booked solid, and the bed race to the Municipal was very real. A friend of mine arrived at the municipal at...

Camino Ingles - 38% increase in pilgrim numbers this year

@Anhalter, that would most certainly be part of the equation, probably a major one. The Inglés has also been actively promoted during the past year, one example being a promotional visit to Canada some months ago. (Reported here on the forum). There's been quite an investment on infrastructure...

    Reservations and WhatsApp

No Albergues require reservations. (Edited to add: on the Primitivo during the main season) Most private Albergues accept reservations, but none of the Municipals/ Xunta do. I booked Grado ( because I had an injury and knew I would be slow) but then took it on a case by case basis. It really...

    Wikiloc or alternative for planning

My usual - and current - planning tools - the coffee mug being the most important part!

    Wikiloc or alternative for planning

???? Ok, told you I’m new to this- when I open it this is what I saw! Edited to add: in the woods of Homer Simpson "duuuh!" I've just realised - I thought this was in Mapy, it's not! My humble apologies, told you I'm new to all this stuff..... 😣🤕. Thanks!!

    Picking an accommodation

You may also occasionally find an apartment on airbnb. I say occasionally because during the summer months in particular they often have minimum stay periods which obviously will not work for you. Plus of course it's a very popular area so many will already be booked out.

A new 3000km circular walking route in Portugal?

Yes, I got a WhatsApp from a Camino friend of mine in Portugal last night, he said much the same. He pointed out that in some of the areas with which he is very familiar that the trails don't necessarily join up. He was curious as to how they would achieve this. Time will tell!

    Reservations and WhatsApp

@Merida, not sure if you know, but Spanish mobile numbers always start with either a 6 or 7 , so you'll be messaging +346...... or +347..... . I loved the Primitivo, (sadly didn't have enough time to do the Salvador as well. Enjoy !
