On my second visit to Pontevedra we went to the municipal museum which was a real find the museum has a huge archaeology section about the region and a large art collection local and national through to contemporary work and its free!
I would suggest walking the literal route out of Porto, for the few days or so its mostly along wooden boardwalks and is pretty flat
If I remember correctly the walk from Esposende to viana do castelo was a combination of rough Hill climb and cobbled roads but others on the forum might have...
Looking at September at a specific departure time
but we have to bags x 2 which I'm sure we didn't have to pay for last year so that's almost 3 times more than 2022
Which is really odd
I have heard that flix bus can be a little erratic and travelled with alsa last year from sdc as i much prefer a direct route but I was shocked at the price increase from €33 for 2 pax to over €100
this year unless I have totally got the booking wrong!
Looking at options getting back to Porto from SDC
I am struggling with Alsa bus as when I try to book and pay for my ticket the website crashes and won't take my payment
I found Flix bus do the route with a transfer at Vigo (half the price) but have had mixed reviews regarding reliability and...
Walking the Camino Portuguese last year I was attacked and bitten by a dog in a bar first day out of Porto...ended up in the casualty dept having stitches. Not sure about other Caminos but I came across a lot of dogs loose in Portugal and Spain and am very wary no whilst walking so I would also...
I really enjoyed Buen Camino a father daughter journey from Croagh Patrick to Santiago de Compostela by Natasha and Peter Murtagh
It's a few years old but was funny and informative
Not sure regarding visas but Efren Gonzalez walked the route a few years back
He videoed his journey from Canturbury to Rome daily on YouTube and is pretty comprehensive regarding the terrain, pilgrim facilities and the kms he walked each day
Might help good luck
I have had dogs as pets for most of my life growing up so this came out of the blue
This happened in a beachside cafe on our first day out and I must admit it really shook me up a bit
The dogs had recently been adopted by a portuguese family who were beside themselves with what had happened
I...
Got bitten by a dog in a cafe first day out of Porto...spent the day on casualty with a couple of stitches in my knee and two weeks worth of antibiotics hopefully my next camino will be a little more wildllife friendly🙂
I think the biggest danger starting out so early, especially when road walking is the risk from cars and lorries, some pilgrims leaving whilst dark use a hi viz vest and I have seen some use hi viz tape on their packs to alert drivers
Good luck and have a safe camino
Hi all
I have just come across an antique token or medal relating to the Camino on Ebay uk listed as "St James 18th century silver devotional medal" and wondered if any on the forum could identify if these were commonly carried by pilgrim in the 1700's and if they were easily obtained in Spain...
Not sure about Ryan air but easy jet have a tool on their app called a cabin bag sizer that allows you to measure your pack to find out if it complies with the overhead baggage dimensions-never used it tho as travel with my walking poles so the pack has to go in the hold
I bought one for the CP initially for sun protection but mostly used it as a rain umbrella
It was warm in June and I could walk without having to wear a jacket or poncho
I was able to attach it so I was hands free without too much hassle, they are very light and wouldn't be without one now
We struggled with finding budget rooms in Pontevedra but we found a cheap(ish) twin room with en suite for 50 euro on booking.com
The property was called Acola rooms in the centre of the old town directly on the Camino
