It does not need to be in Spanish. The fact that you do speak Spanish will be very helpful. I unfortunately do not speak Spanish but they took me anyway! 😀
This is how I applied last year. Keep in mind that every email I received back ended up going to my spam folder so make sure you check there too for any responses.
I just walked this yesterday and saw the 102 km marker. I was staying in the area close to the cathedral and the Buen Camino app had a route that went right by the Cathedral and out of the city, up a steep hill or two and then into the forest. After the hill, I thought it was lovely!
I was one of the last volunteers for 2023 and we stayed at the Albergue Peregrinos San Lazaro. There are two sections/buildings with one of them being for the volunteers at the Pilgrim’s Office.
Being from Canada and having this same problem, I called my bank. I do use the app for my banking and they told me that the message sent is phone specific and not number specific….at least in my case. I also found that if I was using my SIM card and not wifi, I was able to get right into the...
I was returning to Toronto but it’s a simple bus ride from Santiago to Porto where I enjoyed a few day being a tourist in this great city. I then flew home direct on Air Transat which likely flies direct to Montreal as well.
If you’re feeling like a splurge, stay at the beautiful Rectoral de Cines! It is a former monestary that has been converted into a hotel. It is off the Camino but they offer complementary pick up, and drop off the next morning. There are two options for this. The hotel also offers a lovely...

It’s a long shot but was it the Maitland Trail Camino that you sister participated in this past weekend? If it was she certainly picked a tough trail to start with…especially the first 31km of it!!
I second this recommendation! It’s a beautiful place with lovely cloisters as part of the hotel. When we were there there was a soft breeze blowing through the cloisters with music playing in the background and a wonderful scent in the air!
We often got stamps from the police stations in a town. They knew what we were asking for and were quite happy to oblige. In fact, we were sometimes directed there to get the stamp.
I know this has been discussed before but could someone please remind me of the best way to contact these lovely people if you are hoping to reserve a bed. TIA
I’m signed up for the hospitalera course being offered in London (Canada) at the end of June. Check with the CCoP to see if there are still spots available. I’m hoping to be able to volunteer in Sept/Oct of this year. 😀
