I have been in my own Camino Fever lately. I decided to reach out to those who became my Camino angels and see how they're doing. Perhaps they need some encouragement in their lives right now. But I like your idea of sending healing and encouraging thoughts to those who are walking today...
I think the answer depends in part on what time of day you are walking. Although there are bars/cafes in most (not all!) villages you pass through, some may be closed early in the morning or mid-day.
Buen Camino!
I know I'm not the only one who continues to think about the Camino. Such freedom and simplicity is hard to duplicate at home, isn’t it? I was reviewing my pictures (again) this week, when I came across this photo of one of the messages left on the alter in the Ermita de San Miguel Arcangel...
Oh my, I am in AWE! To think you conceived and executed such a project. I still have my hand-sewn, partially hand-quilted crib blanket from 40 years ago to finish..... It's beautiful! Congratulations.
Wow. This is cool. As a data geek, I love how they compile this information. I've been mapping my own temperatures and rain for almost 20 years and created my own graphs from the data. Yes, I know that online weather sites provide historical data from some weather station near me, but it's...
I like the use of avatars (whether of the person or an object) as a way of quickly identifying whose post it is. A lot easier than looking at forum names!
On topic: one could argue that the Church exploited the Camino from the beginning to bring people into Spain and to rally Christians to defeat the Moors...... I've only walked once, so don't have the depth of experience so many people have. It wouldn't surprise me if the Camino reached some...
These posts are spot-on. I managed to avoid blisters but suffered terribly from repetitive stress issues (shin splints and tendinitis). I should have been doing more stretching and self-massage throughout my camino instead of when I started having problems. And ditto the benefit of ice!
I join those who favor prep work before a Camino. Note, though, I have only done one Camino, and every person is different.
I spent two months building up distance and hill work, the last month with my pack on. I've attached the three references I used to put together a loose plan to...
I sang most of the way (and played my ukulele in the evenings). People often joined in as they passed me when I was singing "Let it Be" or "Hallelujah." But my personal anthem was the Kate Wolf song "Across the Great Divide," here sung by Nanci Griffith. The opening lyric: "I've been walking...
It seems to me you have a pretty good view of things. You know that you're not "supposed" to have expectations, but you also know that you DO have expectations. Just like the rest of us. Who wouldn't think or hope that undertaking a challenge might make us into a better/different person? Or...
