I wear zero drop trail runners with Injinji toe socks and Scholl Gel Activ Work insoles. They provide better cushioning and heat dissipation which I find helps with blister prevention. Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
An Irish friend of mine is currently walking that route and he tells me he has seen very few pilgrims. Of course, that might change as Spring approaches? Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
My sentiments precisely good_old_shoes, and wonderful pic anniesantiago! Yes, the Camino will provide, if you remain open to the possibilities. Remember, "Life is like a box of chocolates, ........." Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
Madrid is a wonderful city and has plenty to offer. I like the stand up breakfast at La Mallorqina on Puerta del Sol and lunch at Mercado de San Miguel. If you are interested in churches take a stroll down to the Almudena Cathedral. So much to see and do, if you have time! Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
If you are looking at Altra trail runners try the Mont Blanc. They are in between Lone Peak and Olympus in terms of cushioning. I switched to zero drop trail runners before my third Camino and am now a fan.
I would agree with domigee. As another Aussie, I'd say stick to your Keen boots and toe socks. You might just want some more room in the toe box if you have been losing toenails? Switching to elastic lock laces and gel insoles might also help. Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
Rabanal del Camino is one of my favourite stops on the Camino Frances, and I have always stayed at El Refugio. My condolences to the Benevente family. 🚶♂️
A two week walk from León to SdC is wonderful. Savour every moment as it will seem to be over before you know it. Plenty of sound advice on this forum about managing the walk. I would definitely recommend visiting Muxia and/or Fisterra if you have time. Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
One review I read of the Mont Blancs showed alternative lacing patterns to aid with issues such as this. Here is the link: https://www.wildfiresports.com.au/blog/our-blog/shoe-lacing-styles/
I'm trying a pair of Altra Mont Blanc shoes at the moment. More cushioning than the Lone Peaks I am used to, but a little less than the Olympus. I like them so far. Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
A stopover in Paris is always wonderful, but another good option is to fly into Madrid, then take train to Pamplona. Easy to decide from Pamplona where to start your CF. Buen Camino. 🚶♂️
