It’s unfortunate that you have not understood that the Camino has seen many people walk it for over a thousand years. Some of them are/were sick. If you needed a vacation then go to Hawaii.
I never noticed any cars up there doing am not certain that you can count on hitching a ride and the down side into Spain is very steep. I had not had knee trouble for 30 years until I walked down the Pyrenees's!
I walked during the same time of year and brought gaiters just in case I needed them and I never needed them because I used rain pants. Now if you choose to wear a poncho for your rain gear you will probably need gaiters but I also used a rain jacket.
I used Verizon and I thought it was expensive. I started using Skype while on the Camino as long as there was a good wifi connection it was as good as a cell phone call. There tends to be good wifi I. The larger cities.

I'm not sure why you want to do this because as you already indicated you will miss a lot. However at that rate of walking except for the walking you will pretty much miss everything else
I walked the Camino last year and am also from the USA. I flew into Paris--Charles de Gaul airport via JFK. I then too the train from Paris to St Jean--it only takes a day--train tickets are quite reasonable and the train station is located in the airport and the trains run on time (not like in...
I will say that I had a similar experience--a let down after a long journey. I could not hear well during the pilgrims mass so I don't know if my name was mentioned, the mass seemed hurried and so well practiced by the priest that it seemed contrived. After the mass I was scolded by a priest for...
