    Coffee

It takes a dozen Starbucks sachets to make a cup of "coffee"? Wow, I knew it was weak but still ;) Another infamous multinational, Nescafé, sells sachets of 3 in 1 (instant coffee, creamer, sugar) and 2 in 1 (instant coffee and creamer). It's not really coffee but it's convenient to carry and...

  6. Jeff Crawley

    Stamps per day from Porto??

Tom, if it's one stamp per day until Tui then why does it say TWO stamps per day on every single (stamp) page right from the start? Just askin' ;)

    Advice on skipping Porto urban.area

If you walk down the R. Hintze Ribeiro to the beach there's a little tourist office at the end with a pleasant café alongside - both have stamps for your credential before you hit the seafront The TO also had maps and leaflets on the different Caminhos. Opening times this week: Saturday...

    Compostela: Electric Bikes Excluded?

The trouble is . . . . wait for it . . . . some Pilgrims lie! I've seen people getting their compostelas and saying that yes, they walked every step of the way when I've witnessed them regularly getting out of taxis or having their support vehicles drop them off. What is to stop an electrigrino...

    Compostela: Electric Bikes Excluded?

Three deaths and 459 injuries were attributed to e-scooters in Paris in 2022, compared to one fatality and 353 injuries in 2021 so the mayor decided to put it to a public vote: ban e-scooters or not? There wasn't a huge turn out, not much over 100,000 but 90% voted to ban them so no more...

Lost & Found Erika! I have your pilgrim passport. Are you in Tineo?

Maybe there's a case for the credentials to have a space for mobile phone numbers (as well as name, address and ID number) in order to establish a quick contact? Mind you I remember seeing many credentials presented at the Pilgrim Office that, apart from the name, hadn't been filled in at all.

Yes, Part 1 is exactly what we did - worked a treat.

How to get the soap residue out of socks

Have you ever tried a post wash soak in straightforward hair conditioner followed by a rinse? Serious suggestion, it rescued a (very expensive) cashmere sweater that was machine washed by mistake. Apparently it "relaxes" the fibres. Worth trying anyway.

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

STATEMENT: I inadvertently upset a fellow member of this Forum after misinterpreting a post they have made on this thread. I have apologised to them in a PM and do again to you all - it will teach me not to jump to assumptions without knowing the facts.

    Be careful with phones.

My history buff daughter tells me it's a problem that's as old as time hence the old English term "cutpurse" - a fore runner of the pick pocket (from when we didn't have pockets. If you think a steel band or cable will stop a thief take a look at this

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

An elegant solution - use what you got!

Hiking poles on the plane in Santiago!

If you can rustle up a couple of metres of the ubiquitous paracord you can make a handy and adjustable strap/lanyard. There are two videos on this YouTube account which might be of interest https://www.youtube.com/@kingfisher2036

Does the winner/loser get presented with an award? The Golden Hiking Pole of Decathlon for instance?
