You may try to get a bed in the Albergue "Tinidade de Arre" just after crossing over the Rio Ulzama and before entering the outskirts of Pamplona. But you may have to cross the city to Cizur Menor (Albergue Orden de Malta) or the Albergue San Andrés in Zariquiegui.
Both options you may have to...
IMHO all Albergues inside the citywalls are closed while the San Fermines!
You can try Casa Paderborn on the banks of the Arga, not far from the main route of the Camino.
I don't know, if they take reservations.
BC!
I follow this discussion in the last few days and for me it's clear: any for profit organisation should be forced to be member of a chamber / fraternity that maintain and market the Caminos. Otherwise they would not be allowed to offer their walks.
It should be like in the Alps, where you need...
Mixed feelings / emotions for me: joy or a bit pride and gratitude for getting to SdC without any hazards or worse, but also I feel a little lost.
The end of a Camino is forseeable but you try to ignore it until your feet hit the ground of the Praza d'Obradoiro.
Leave the airport and turn left. Walk to the bus-station. Take the bus Nr. 4 to Bayonne trainstation (Place de la Republique/Boulevard Alsace Lorraine). Ride the train with your fellow pilgrims. Have fun getting to know your co-walkers.
Sundays only 2 trains!
At first: is it a fitting choice?
You have it on your back for more than a month! Be aware, that it should fit perfectly.
In summer 2019 my 38/45l Backpack wasn't filled to the top. 60l is way to big!
Maybe 60l in late fall or winter, if you need more space for a sleeping-bag and more/thicker...
I would tend to say: Viana do Castelo and Pontevedra, if you want to make it even.
The average days are 10-12, depending on your speed. Viana will be reached by day 2 or 3 and Pontevedra again 3 or 4 days later.
If you are a beachlover, you may stop in Afife and maybe Gaifar on day 4 and 7...
The Centros de Salude (I attended one in Triacastela) are the day to day offices for medical needs. Like a resident professional w/o the bills ;) Most run by young doctors and a nurse.
Best way would be, IMHO, to contact the Allianz for assistance. If it's unbarable, you should see an ER or...
Walked from the Albergue in Porto via the Cathedral and Foz de Douro up to VdC.
No problem at all, nice and easy walk, especially after the morning-fog was gone.
Just minor Pilgrims traffic jam on the Harbour-bridge in Matosinhos.
Better book ahead in VdC, had to sleep on mat, Albergue was...
Bring pair of walking shoes and lightweight flipflops / sandals for shower.
I prefer sandals (Teva), they're not as bulky than Crocs and waterproof, too.
It depends.
I booked ahead last year in the Albergue de Porto. Very nice, very helpful and professional. Nice garden and kitchen. They offer a warm welcome, Credential and first stamp, good wishes and helpful info.
You will need an hour in total from airport to the city center via the tram. If...
Sad to say, I didn't keep my ticket. But there are some Agencies that offer that trip, almost all to the same price, I paid 45€ last year for the 8hrs. trip.
I've booked a roundtrip SdC - Finisterre - Muxia - SdC last year after I finished my CP.
Quite a nice experience. Very nice guide, clean bus. We were ~20 people and had ~1-1,5h time at every stop. In Finisterre we had lunch after sightseeing. It was ok for me, but I had plans for 3 rest days in...
Almost the same here. The security did take a look at Frankfurt airport in the travel-prescription I got from my professional and waved through.
2019 on CF w/o any medication (bandaids only), 2023 on the CP with supplies of Ass100 (Aspirin), Metoprolol, HCT, Ramipril, Ezitimib-Rosuvastatin.
For...
Get well soon. And keep that attitude!
After my severe heart-attack in March 2022 (with Stents, Rehab and co.) I felt much rejuvenated that I made a voyage to the Provence in August 2022 and walked the CP in July 2023.
All is possible, if you take some minor precautions.
Monte de Gozo is not that far.
If you want to stay reasonable in prize, try to talk to the staff at Albergue km0, they did help me last year and organized a bed in a local Inn near the cathedral. It was ~35€ per night.
SdC was packed with young pilgrims July 2023, the Catholic Juvenile...
