  1. Rick of Rick and Peg

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

I was amused to see a hog on a motorcycle because the hog is usually the thing ridden.

Do you drop any personal restrictions on Camino?

In Spain I eat olives. I still try to avoid peppers and mushrooms.

Do some people not get stamps?

For those who really, really like sellos they can do the same but put extra sellos on additional credentials. Then it's easy to find out where you stayed from the primary credential but you've still got your others. Be sure though that if you want the compostela the primary has two per day for...

    Halfway point credentials

This was the last report to the forum (April and detailed): https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/this-is-where-to-obtain-halfway-certificate-in-sahagun.82023/#post-1244642

    The forum, 20 years on.

As I mentioned above that would be @Pilgrim, user #4, but I got curious as to who is the oldest active member. That would be @sillydoll, user #8, who posted the following a few days ago...

    The forum, 20 years on.

The first non-Ivar post I found was post #6 on thread #6 titled "Thanks". It was posted by @Pilgrim who joined October 12, 2004 (but hasn't been seen since 2007). https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/thanks.6/#post-6 I couldn't find threads 1 and 2. Ivar had post #3 in thread #3...

    Wikiloc or alternative for planning

I agree. For Peter's use though it is probably not more complex than the alternatives he is testing and he can do what he wants with OSMand on a phone (if I understand his needs correctly). For members looking for an easy to use general navigation app I used to recommend Maps.me but now a clone...

    Wikiloc or alternative for planning

Hi Peter. Peg and I have been camping a few days and have had phone charging issues, now fixed. So just seen your request. If I understand things correctly you are looking for what you get with Mapy but on a phone. I believe OSMand will do the job for you. I recently rewatched a video that...

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

If you want to find a blanket at 1 AM you turn on the overheads of course. The switch was on the other side of the bunk room but I was there in seconds, turned the lights off, spoke a few words and the switch wasn't touched again.

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

Yes. Technically TL;DR is an initialism. The Center for Disease Control has an explanation (but with examples for its employees). An abbreviation is a truncated word; an acronym is made up of parts of the phrase it stands for and is pronounced as a word (ELISA, AIDS, GABA); an initialism is an...

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

The semi-colon sort of acts like a wink and a smile doesn't it? And the whole expression agrees with that; "I'm with you. I didn't do my best."

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

We've only spent less than two weeks in Britain but this was a walk we took there. Thanks for the memories.

On topic: A title. On topic: Certainly. Off topic: I'm hoping that you miss a night's sleep figuring out how to classify this post Guy. ;)

Forecast arrival of pilgrims in Santiago

Looks like the pilgrims office is cheating by adding a few pilgrims each day. ;) Do you have any election prediction algorithms?

"It's not about the gear" camino article from an irish jesuit blog

Interesting (at least to me) that after reading my alerts I was thinking about how my posts are for the technical and practical aspects of the Camino. Maybe I'll discuss this later. Anyway, reading the article the OP steered us to came immediately following those thoughts. At the end though...

Same trail today as two days ago. The count is different though, 151.

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

I'm a month late reporting this walk. On April 19th I walked from home to Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts. That's where the War for American Independence started 249 years ago (some say Lexington earlier in the day but I'm a Concord fan). I've done this walk on several anniversaries...
