Need a Pep Talk for the Climb from Combarro to Armenteira

Last year, about halfway up there was a cooler with a variety of cold drinks you could take and a container to leave the cash. We also worried a lot about the climb, was only the 2nd day of walking for 2 of the 70 year olds and we arrived around noon from Combarro, and it wasn’t as bad as we...

    Costco merino

Noticed for the first time today that Costco is carrying a Cloudveil short sleeve shirt. It’s loose fitting, sleeves quite short and is 52% merino and 48% tencel, several colours. For $17 I thought it worth a try - the fabric feels comfortable.

Do you drop any personal restrictions on Camino?

I am diabetic, controlled with oral medications and oxempic. One of the joys of being on the Camino is that I can eat just about everything. All those hours of walking nicely balance out the blood sugar. At home I have to pay much more attention.

Sorry if this is a dumb question - Single vs. double rooms

    Camino fatigue?

I have walked six Caminos over the past 15 years and will spend 8 days on the Portuguese this fall (but will end before the last 100km). Enjoyed the time outdoors, the tiny towns, scenery, keeping an aging body fit, - interspersed with surprises of spirituality, the feeling of wonder and...

We found that eating the larger meal around 3 after we were in for the day worked well. Dinner tended to be either tapas or something picked up from the grocery store.

Have you tried Carballo De Prado in Armentiera? ( on booking.com). They will pick you up and then return you to the next morning, there is a family room for 4 if it’s available. Or you could stay at the monastery de Poio, and then walk 7 km past Armentiera to Ribadumia and stay at Oscastanos...
