Walking to O Cebreiro from bus stop in Pedrafita do Cebreiro

It is indeed an open forum, but not open to all expressions of opinion. For example, rule #1 is not to be rude, sarcastic or insulting. I believe, while disagreement is certainly permitted, outright expressions of disdain for others are best avoided.

    Con Niños!

I agree with those who suggest that the Frances or Portugues would be better in this case (first Camino with children) than the Madrid. And I say that as someone who has walked and enjoyed all three. You just can't beat the flexibility that you will get with all of the infrastructure on either...

LIVE from the Camino First time San Salvador, here we go

Ender's Guide slices it anywhere from 4 to 9 days.

    Compostela Question

If one were to use two separate credencials, one for Santiago to Finisterre, and a second for Finisterre to Muxia to Santiago (over 100 km) and only presented the latter to the Pilgrim Offece, would that qualify? It is not walking in a circle, just walking east over 100 km to Santiago. I had...

Spanish language on Caminos outside of Spain

I had heard it was the opposite. Portuguese understand Spanish (whether or not they admit it), but Spanish have much more difficulty understanding Portuguese (although it isn't that difficult for them to learn).

Do you drop any personal restrictions on Camino?

I generally only drink coffee on the Camino. My eating schedule on the Camino is very different from regular life. To @dougfitz's point, I don't consider either of these really relaxing my ethical standards.

How to get around on the forum

Different people use different ways to get around. Some like the "New posts" page and use that to read the forum. Some get the emails and just click the links in the emails. Myself, I like to go to the Forums page and go into one sub-forum after another, from top to bottom, marking the...

Do some people not get stamps?

I got no stamps on my first camino but I've collected stamps assiduously on all subsequent caminos.

    Caminho without a phone

I had a similar problem when my phone went astray on my birthday on my Camino Portugues in 2018 (not a theft, fortunately). All of my plans and plane tickets home, etc. we're on my phone and in my Google Drive. But the two factor authentication meant that my Google Drive was inaccessible without...

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

I am aware of both, people who feel the strong magnetic pull of Santiago and people who want to savor their last days before Santiago and the end.

Bus Muxia to Santiago Do I Pre book and with who?

I pre-booked online on the Monbus website. I also saw more options on the schedule on the Monbus website than I had seen on Rome2Rio.

    Help getting lodging past Sarria

I think we all tend to see more of what we are sensitized to look for. I know that as soon as I got a new car, that make and model seemed to be everywhere when I had never noticed many of them before. Similarly, it is interesting to read people's experience of the Camino Portugues from Lisbon...

    Hello 😃

Others have covered a lot of good points already. I would suggest that you start now going on some walks with your backpack (loaded with what you expect to take). My pattern for training is start with shorter walks (like 5km) and gradually build up length and frequency to 20km walks. When I can...

Camino in late March for two weeks with two 11 yr olds

I still think a Camino Portugues fits well into the length of time you have. Of course, it will be hotter then, and a Coastal (or Senda Litoral) Portugues sounds like it would provide more opportunities to cool off, which certainly sounds appealing. I haven't walked the Coastal myself (after...

    Happy Shavuot!!!

See, I thought that the more traditional view was to follow not the traditions of where you happen to be at the moment, but of your parents, which is why I said "unless your family is Israeli" rather than "unless you are in Israel". But I make no claim to real expertise. Also, I didn't know...

    Reservations and WhatsApp

Sometimes it wasn't really possible to give a heads up. For example, the published number for thr albergue leads to the ayunamiento, which is only open a few hours and never when you call, or the email is checked by the ayunamiento and you find when you arrive that they haven't passed on your...

    Happy Shavuot!!!

Two days unless your family is Israeli, if I recall correctly.

    I can't say I agree with you.
