The Way: how do you feel about THE movie?

Thanks so much for the opportunity to open up about my feelings regarding this film! A firm #2 here. When I was planning my first Camino, I watched it and I pretty much hated it (eye-rolling script, bad acting, shallow characters representing ridiculous stereotypes; I could go on). I have...

That recipe - which one is yours?

For me. it's Caldo Gallego, tho' of course it's different every time I make it, as it was also different every time I ate it in Galicia. I've only made one Camino pilgrimage, but eating this soup every time I could was my mission for days. I envied the home gardens of greens (what are they...

Are you a hiker or a walker?

I am both a hiker and a walker and this distinction played a huge role in how my first Camino (May-June 2023) evolved. I have done a lot of solo and not-solo backpacking in various US locations. I love it. But I also walk a lot just around town. I love solitude. I knew that the Caminos are...

Casa Ivar now at new location

For anyone looking for accommodation in Santiago: I really liked La Pensión Rúa Nova, just across the street from Ivar's new location (at at Rúa Nova 4): https://www.pensionruanova.com/en/

    Two days in Muxia

I'm on that bus too (and I just received your pm and replied).

    Two days in Muxia

I'm also in Muxía for two rest days (leaving tomorrow). I enjoyed a sunny but windy walk out to the point yesterday, and a lovely misty walk on the beach at low tide this morning. I've got a beach-side room at Hotel La Cruz and it's lovely.

Salvador/Primitivo in June... Will I be alone?

Well the Camino laughed at my plans and I am continuing on the Frances, not taking the detours to San Salvador and Primitivo. Buen Camino!

Salvador/Primitivo in June... Will I be alone?

I have met three other pilgrims currently on the Francés who plan to walk San Salvador/Primitivo. So it’s not too rare this year.

    Somewhere in Ventosa.

Sorry folks, I’m having trouble attaching the image. Life on the camino Edit: lol got it to attach but apparently twice

    Somewhere in Ventosa.

This bar is hilarious. All the locals yucking it up and there is also this… (see pic). When I asked the owner, he demonstrated how the pig squeaks when you squeeze it. Hilarity ensued. And the paella was really good!

    Pre-Camino day in Bilbao

What a great story! Sadly I had to settle for a stamp from the Turismo office by the bridge. It’s nice, though

    Pre-Camino day in Bilbao

Thanks! I arrived in Logroño about an hour ago. I was hoping to get my first sello at the cathedral. If no luck there, I’ll go to the tourist office

    Pre-Camino day in Bilbao

I will start walking tomorrow from Logroño but I flew into Bilbao yesterday where I saw plenty of symbols of Santiago, traditional music buskers, and my sidra came with a good message.

    Holy buckets! The bots!

Yes, this is exactly the reason for my original post. I know the bots are everywhere, but I don’t recall being offered the opportunity to see in real time which bots are actively searching a given site. I find it fascinating and I appreciate the work of those who manage this site. I’m always...

    Holy buckets! The bots!

Wow, missed that thread yesterday. Sad indeed when a member feels marginalized. They could have helped me understand this.
