We went to Laza for Entroido this year. There's a day where everyone throws mud soaked rags and ants at each other. It was wild. We made a video about it:
Laza is a super small town. Even from Ourense, there aren't any regular public transit options.
Oh yeah, that mastiff was not old and was definitely a problem. The young guy who owned the house saw us on the road later and apologized. But he also said that he only chains the dog if it's peak pilgrim season.... ugh. He also said "if I had known you were coming, I would have chained it."...
We walked the route last March (2023) and it was definitely hard to find. Used our gps on the Wise Pilgrim app. There were a few bits in the forest where we were confused, but it all worked out.

We've been to Dala's Cervecería Bar Restaurante several times. It's about 5-10 minute walk from Chamartin. It's always open, serving food, and locals love it.

Ooof. We’re all walking into the heat until Friday or so. After tomorrow, we have some shorter days planned. I’ve got some electrolytes from the pharmacy (like pedialite). Literally my life saver right now.

I totally agree. We just charge up when we get into the albergues. You don't really need a portable charger unless you're really using your phone/device a LOT.
Great start! Just finished the Primitivo and did the Norte a few years ago. You don't need a pillow. You'll only need one pair of shorts. Definitely bring nail clippers.
Recommend picking up hiking poles and a small knife (for picnics) when you arrive.
