same here... and everytime I get to Iratche the fountain is broken, no wine, should that be a sign to stop drinking or just another reason to walk the camino again?
I met many people not drinking anything at all, and we still had great evenings together, so alcohol or not is no real issue on the...
a few years ago I took a bus to A Coruna, from there to Santander and then to Bilbao, not via Santiago. I stayed over in Santander, my credencial gave me access to the albergue there. It was a really nice trip!

Hi Seioge,
I've walked part of the Swiss Jakobsweg - the waymarking is excellent, accommodation is not an issue, landscape is stunning, mainly German and Swiss pilgrims.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions, I'm more than happy to help.
Rolf
I've used Tour N Ride, they are based in Santiago and will send the bike to any place along the camino, so you can start wherever you want
http://www.tournride.com
The bikes were decent, nothing special, but they did the job. And you might want to rent the panniers as well, nothing more...
Hi Senyor Pirotechnic,
I wish I could forecast the weather for April, it would make planning the camino so much easier... :?
I walked from Somport last year, end of March, and I had a really nice sunny day all the way to Jaca. The path was more or less dry, no mud, but I walked the first few...

Hi Patricio,
there are some albergues which open after Easter, but I've been walking the Frances a few times in March/ April, and I never had a problem with finding a bed. You normally can check with the hospitaleros if the albergues on your next stage are open.
Rolf
Hi Manosge,
Check http://www.jakobsweg.ch, there is a good section in English with description of the way, small map, and a very comprehensive accommodation list.
I didn't use any other guide when I walked the route from Konstanz to Einsiedeln, and I won't get another one for the way to Geneva...

I would have come along, but "unfortunately" I will be somewhere between Fromista and Leon, eating the usual Menu del Peregrino... :)
Nevertheless, I hope you have a good day out, and maybe next time!
Rolf
Hi All,
it's not really an introduction, but I just made my travel arrangements to continue on the Frances from Fromista to Santiago end of November/ early December. I wondered if anyone of you will be out there as well, to share a glass of wine in the evenings after a long days walk in the...
I thought I share this with you; just booked a ticket from London Stanstead to Valladolid for £10 incl tax with Ryanair. From Valladolid you can get to Leon, Astorga or Burgos really easy (direct bus from the airport), or in my case to Fromista (by train). I think it's one of the lesser known...
Hi Darren and John,
Greetings from Crystal Palace! :D
I've walked various bits of the camino, but to start from my doorstep is something I really would love to do, so I'm looking forward to hear about your progress!
Rolf
just returned from my first stage of the Swiss Camino; Constance (or Konstanz) to Einsiedeln (4 days).
I highly recommend this route, and there are now various albergues available. The signs are very easy to find, though they are about to change the whole signs in Switzerland this year, with new...
Hi David,
Please be aware that there is no public transport at Pau airport, the only way to get to the station is by Taxi, which was around 20 Euros, and took about 30 minutes (depending on traffic).
Rolf
I was laying on my back, just amazed by vultures circling above me, until I thought that they might see me in this position and think that I'm their lunch... :D
When you leave Sanguesa, you have to follow the main road for a few kilometres, past the Camino sign which would bring you to...
Yes, snakes, on the way down from Somport. I guess they enjoyed the nice spring sun as much as I did. But you have to be careful not to step on them, and also they were a little bit aggressive...
And yes, you will need a sleeping bag, though most albergues had blankets as well.
And yes, planning...
