    I walked during the same time of year and brought gaiters just in case I needed them and I never needed them because I used rain pants. Now if you choose to wear a poncho for your rain gear you will probably need gaiters but I also used a rain jacket.

    I don't think that using plastic bags will solve you rash issue but may actually increase the issue and surely will make you feet smell worse. I would say you need socks that wick moisture away from your skin--using a sock liner with another sock over it might help. Foot powder may also help...
