Leaving SJPP on May 20!
NO, rain wont stop you, but snow can, go anyway, take your chances, we travelled at that time last year, we crossed with a magnificent 20C day, it snowed 2 days later and was closed. Follow the guideance of the volunteers in the Pilgrim Office, Buen Camino Andy- Innerlite

When to start in SJPdP
Paul, The best time is Spring, undoubtedly, spring flowers, plenty of water in the fuentes, minimal bed bug spread in the early season, off peak (Summer) and the weather improves as you walk. We walked 13th May to 13th June, we had so much fun we can't remember the bad weather, just different...- Innerlite

Stay over in Bayonne / Biarritz?
Margaret, Taxi from Bayonne to SJPDP is about $150 euro, share with up to 5 others, cheap. Pilgrim office in SJPDP is open to 10:30 at night, I would head there and book ahead if you can, pleanty of ALbergues, & Hotels, not expensive, Buen Camino Andy- Innerlite

any advice what sort of footwear - ?hiking boots
Nick, hiking shoes, not boots, as boots will leave you with shin splints if they are done up to the top laces. Experience I picked up last year :) Buen Camino Andy- Innerlite

Buses from Santiago - please help
Laura, Arriving at 2 pm you will not disembark and get out of the airport before 3pm, use www.alsa.es/en/ to look at bus schedules and arrival times, they are cheap and regular, but I doubt you will get there by bus on time. Alternatively, see if a taxi might be the best option, usually not...- Innerlite
