My flight lands (theoretically) at 1:00 at Madrid T4. I don’t have checked baggage. There is a train leaving Chamartín at 2:40. Is this enough time to get between the two?

This was one of the highlights of my Camino. I remember feeling tired and the road towards Astorga seemed to go on forever. We stopped at David's oasis, a young man with a guitar sang me a song, and as I hugged David goodbye I had a very strong urge just to stop there, perhaps for a long time...
I am planning to walk this route with some friends next May. If you kept notes and don't mind sharing them, I would love details. We have discovered that finding details about this route has been somewhat frustrating. Many say they did the coastal route but headed inland much sooner than we are...
The next stop after here is Fonfria. It's perhaps another hour to walk. We stayed here last year, loved it. One of my favourites. There is a place to eat, everyone joins in, the meal was also great.

I was hoping to walk that stretch in the fall as well. I may volunteer in an albergue for a couple of weeks before walking. I think I planned about 11 or 12 days, between 20 and 25 km per day. Is the weather as unpredictable towards the end of September as it is in the spring?

We stayed at an albergue just before Sarria. It had everything that people have listed. The brother and sister running it have done the Camino Frances. There was a lovely lounge area for people to meet and chat, have a cup of tea, or just relax. Everything was clean, the evening meal was one of...
I loved this !! I drove down to Bellingham from Vancouver, BC to watch it one afternoon. There weren't too many in the theatre. I cried so many times, I wanted to be there again so badly. I hope the other viewers didn't mind me frequently pointing at the screen and exclaiming "oh, I stayed...
All these blogs make me want to go again. Anyway, here's mine from May and June of 2013.

In rainy/snowy Vancouver
I stayed in both those places in June of 2013. I didn't experience any bedbug issues but I did have a treated sheet and pillowcase with me. I had my own single bed by the window in San Javier so was quite happy with it.

I'm normally a pretty level person, and don't get too emotional about things. I did the Camino for the physical challenge and was quite floored by the emotions that sometimes overcame me. I remember lying in my bed one evening listening to my music and suddenly desperately missing my two girls...
The best meal we had at an albergue was in San Mamud del Camino, just before Sarria. I think the albergue is called Paloma y Lena. They served a vegetarian meal of salad and quiches. Everything made there. Not a French fry in sight.
Another good meal in Ponfria. Lovely soup followed by a meat...
You very quickly learn what the menu items are as they repeat themselves over the course of the Camino. I got tired of bocadillos about a week in. I would guess out of 35 days doing the Camino, we had pretty good to excellent pilgrim menus about 8 times. Get used to French fries. Get used to the...
