We did this wonderful 1st class train journey from Bilbao to Santiago in June. It was exceptional all the way, from the staff, food, wine, coach that follows the train which took us to many of the small towns I walked thru on the Norde.
I've walked 4 Camino's over May /June & have always appreciated my rain layers, sometimes its been light, sometimes its peed'd down. I've used Poncho, rain jackets & pants complete with an umbrella (from Ivars store). Carry a backpack cover if walking with a rain jacket compared to a poncho
Personally, one time when it happened to me I felt it to be very intrusive especially as the lady in question and I had hardly spoken to words together when she came on quite forcefully with the question. I still remember that one occasion to this day with unease however I don't recall the...
I believe one of Ivars friends does tours as well, Manuel runs ArtNatura. Excursión a Finisterre - Muxía (Costa da Morte) ArtNatura Galicia Tour & Guiding Services
Thank you for JohnLloyd for posting this photo and peregrina2000 for the brilliant article. I found the story fascinating and Rick of Rick and Peg I will also watch the YouTube video you posted.
This article and story reminds me of a wonderful book 'The Island of Sea Women' by Lisa See. An...
I loved my Le-Puy Camino, I was a solo walker and managed with virtually no French. The people I met & all the hosts were helpful, the food was amazing and it worked well for me generally staying where dinner & wine would be served.
Hi David, thanks for sharing your amazing experience, you made the Camino look magical in winter (although I could never do it, I love the warmth). I appreciate the extra steps you took each day in extreme weather to create this wonderful memory for yourself & us too. I see you were prepared...
Such an interesting topic out of the blue. Thanks Kiwi-family. My husband & I will celebrate 40 years next year & I've warned him it's going to cost him plenty!!!! (tongue in cheek) although the laugh maybe on me if travel is still out of question at the end of the year. Interesting though I...
Many years ago I was picked up at Pamploma bus station by the following Pension, Corazon Puro (948 392 113) Euro 36, dinner, breakfast and pickup/drop off corazonpuro@corazonpurs.es www.corazonpuro.es. I stayed the night and in the morning they dropped off guests at SJPDP. It's closed at...
Many thanks, Suzanne. I was able to get through to them and my flights will be refunded. Good detective work on finding the phone number as its not one I'd been able to locate. Cheers
Out of 5 Camino's Le Puy is my favourite, I did it solo and with no French language. I found the people extremely helpful, accommodation and food were fabulous.
Ha Ha Nicky, I was exactly the same for my 2nd, 3rd & 4th camino!!!! I'm about to begin my 5th camino this time on the Norte and I've been too busy to plan, train or think about it, all I know is I have my return airfare and first nights accommodation booked in Irun. As others say everything...
We're walking the Arles Camino in May, has anyone had the experience of sleeping bag or not as most of the time we'll be in demi-pensions where sheets and blankets are generally provided. Thanks in advance
