Is it ok for a gay man to walk the Camino

Brian when you are walking with lovely people and you all have a common bond, The Camino,I really think ones sexuality is a total irrelevance. As I found out when I walked the Camino the colour of ones skin, ones age etc did not matter ,everyone just pulls together for the common good, let your...

Please cast a critical eye over my kit list (for a female travelling in August)

I would add to your list safety pins so you can pin your socks together to drape them over your washing line and a large plastic bin liner to line your rucksack if it rains as water will get in even with a rucksack cover,

How arduous is the climb over the Pyrenees?

That was 6hrs 25 minutes walking time I had about 60 minutes of breaks,I had trained but I am 60 years old, that is why I suggested leave early and give yourself maximum time to do the walk,it is well within anyone's grasp if you give yourself time and eat and drink well.

How arduous is the climb over the Pyrenees?

The secret is to get up early and be on the road by 0630, it will give you loads of time to climb and descend. It took me 6hrs 25 min total walking time. Take it nice and steady and you will be fine,it is not as daunting as you would think, the only problem you might have is the weather, when I...

The new Compostela - certificate of distance travelled

One thing I realised ,does it matter how far you have walked,I did not care about the certificate,I knew I had done it and had the best month of my life. What is a few miles when you have walked that distance and learned and achieved so much.

Further to my last post if you are wearing wet weather trousers tuck your trousers beneath your wet weather gear into your socks then they will not get wet when the water runs down your over trousers .

Rule number one do not scrimp on wet weather gear,it rained for my first 7 days when I set out on the 23rd May, my feet never got wet because I had good boots and my core never got wet as I had the right wet weather gear, believe me a wet walker is a miserable one who gets very tired and...

I met the guy who had the1000 euros stolen, by his own admission he left his waist back with his money in it on the top bunk whilst he slept below, they just stole the money from the bag and replaced the bag. My advice would be to never let your money ipad phone or anything valuable out of your...

I would take one more pair of socks if I was you as you will need to change them daily and if you cannot dry the pair you wore the previous day you will be wearing wet socks.Take some safety pins so you can pin your socks together to dangle them over a rail to dry or pin them to your rucksack to...
