AMEN! Kanga!
While I too experienced significant crowds from Sarría, my reaction was to NOT be put out by it. It gave me a chance to reconnect with the beginner's mind that I had in my first few days and, the enthusiasm, energy, and talkativeness of my new pilgrim friends chiseled off my old...
Are you arriving in Paris on the 1st of May? You might have time to sort it out before you leave Paris at the main SNCF counter in Montparnasse. They were great when I was arranging the train to Bayonne.
Rebecca, when you check in with the pilgrim office in St. Jean they will be able to tell you whether the weather is sufficient to attempt the Napoleonic Route.

So sorry to report I will NOT make it to the Camino in the Spring as planned. I was hit by a car as a pedestrian earlier this month They tell me my broken bones won't be healed enough to carry a backpack by May. GRRRR!! I will live vicariously thru my fellow pilgrims until I am well enough.

Regardless of actual distance - last 3k of each day takes 5times longer than first 3k of the day. As a result Brierly ALWAYS seems wrong . Just one more thing we can sit around and complain about - bonding time to be sure!
Best meals on the Meseta were in Moratinos, calzadilla de Los Hermanos at Casa la cura, and manzanilla de las Mulas. I still drool over the eggplant, squid, and vegetable soup I had in these three towns!
I should have been clearer that it was his only "painting" outside of Italy . It isn't always visible - they have to open the security door THEN you see it behind bullet proof glass. I went two times between Easter Masses and the door was not open but it finally WAS after the evening Mass...
It is in the cathedral behind the altar behind a security door. I was in Logroño on Easter Sunday 2014 and it still took 3 trips to the church to finally see it. Costs 1€ to get lights turned on. Small but powerful crucifixion and only one of his works outside Italy. Totally worth seeing!
So many... Hard to tell from OP where they are...little labyrinth outside of Moratinos. Church in Navarette, the Michelangelo in Logroño, mass in triacastela, the walk up OCebreiro, almost any day in Galicia, the Meseta at dawn, dozens of little yards in albergues along the way. Only touristy...
Grayland, my experience was much like you describe. I was well treated and had surgery in Burgos but they would not accept payment at the time. Not 2 weeks home received a bill that while not high was a tremendous pain to pay because I had to wire Euros. The account holder in Spain wasn't...
I bought poles in SJPdP and used them until I came across a pilgrim who needed them more than me so I gave them up. Two days later my husband met me with spare tips from home . . . A day after that I ran across the pilgrim and gave her the spare tips! Truly needed them until Burgos, I think...
I concur with the Hornillos del Camino suggestion. Had the opportunity to see the stars that night but from my lodging not while walking. Started early many days while still dark and that was always awesome if not cloudy. Managed to have no navigation or tripping problems during those times...
"..... it adds: "On the final day, Pilgrims must obtain two stamps before entering the city of Santiago."
Bala, it says that on mine as well for spring 2014 (I had to go check). But when I looked at my stamps I had NONE except for the final one for that day... I had filled all but 1 square of...
