We used frogg toggs (jacket and pants) and kept dry despite deluges of rain. Highly recommend. They can make you quite warm as they don’t breathe, so plan accordingly. If you use them, you need a pack cover, works just fine

I took a 40 L, but only because i’m very tall (smaller didnt fit torso) and it was late winter, so I had sleeping bag. Per volume only, 30L is plenty. I carried some of my wife’s stuff, and even with sleeping gear it weighed 18 lbs.
After years of false alarms, my wife are booked, and walking the Camino Inglés from Ferrol in March 2018. We wanted to scratch the pergrino itch-- and still plan to walk the CF after the kids are older.
